Jay Bromley to the Giants

A third-round pick. Wow. I trust Reese...but seems like a guy that could have been there in the 5th.
Classic Syracuse fan undervaluing one of there players. Did you see him play last year? Ten sacks is a ton for a defensive lineman. He was so under rated it's ridiculous. It's not hard to see talent and he has it. He will
Have a long career.

I with you. Said as much on here earlier in week too, I'm sure somebody will try to throw that in my face.
Hey kaiser what exactly did
He was 'rising' all week, but to 10th in the 3rd? A little high.

Giants went need over BPA, IMO.

I think he will be fine.

Hey Kaiser what exactly is he lacking? Is it size, speed , character or production ? What do you look for in a defensive lineman that he doesn't have? Is it that he's form syracuse and didn't have media hype? Oh ya he was recruited by absolutely no one!! He was actually not even rated by the joke services. Once again a one offer two star type guy becomes a high draft pick from syracuse. I guess he should have been a five star but the services missed again.

Just like this, Mad.

:bang::bang::bang:

:blah: :noidea:

:bat:

Oh Lord

You didn't answer the question I noticed!
No, of course not, why??

Simple answer, I've seen every single snap he's ever played at Cuse and not once did I ever stand up and scream 'my god, this guys a 1st rounder!!' Or even a second.

Every single solitary scout in the country agreed with me.

Fine, he should've gone #1 overall, he's better than clowney.

Speaking of clowney, anyone remember when the yahoos here thought he should've been a 3rd rounder till we 'helped' them see the light??

This is what General manager Jerry Reese had to say about Jason Bromley:

"We've got a defensive lineman that can definitely start and jump in our rotation and help us out."

Beckham and Richburg were selected pretty much in the range that most expected. Bromley seemed to be more of a surprise.

One scout considered him a sixth-round prospect.

Independent draft analyst Nolan Nawrocki had him as a fourth fifth-round player.

Bromley himself didn't even think there was a chance he'd go in the third.

The Giants, though, had him among a group of players in the running for 74th-overall pick.

"[We were] not zeroed in [on Bromley], but there were a lot of discussions about these being two quality players we would like to have [at that spot], and we think they will fall right for us."

Bromley was one of the top.

The way it fell, the Syracuse product was the pick, and the Giants left for the evening happy.

So far, through two days, they couldn't have imagined it turning out much better."

and there is this

"The general consensus seems to be that the Giants could have had a shot at Richburg in Round 3 and could have had a shot at Bromley in Round 4. However, neither were guaranteed to fall and General Manager Jerry Reese decided it wouldn't be wise to risk it.

So, as they've done in the past, the Giants went against the grain and made selections they believe will help the team. And perhaps more than just the talent they've added to their roster, Big Blue homed in on a very specific type of player and personality — something all three draft selections share in common.

"These guys are high character, team captains, hard workers, smart, competitive guys with no issues whatsoever. These are the things we look for all the time," Vice President of Player Evaluation Marc Ross said. "It does not always happen. Certain things you take a little more calculated risks on at certain times. This just happened to fall right for us where we felt these guys were at the very highest in regards to character."

I think it was a well thought out plan and as they said they didn't want to take a chance waiting another round when Jason was exactly in the footprint of the player and person they wanted in their organization. It probably didn't hurt that Ryan and Justin were there to vouch for Jason's character, work etic and attitude.

I'm fine with their decision to draft him in the 3rd round.

I think people are ragging on you because a great kid who went to your favorite college got drafted by your fav pro team - and you're making a stink because they took him a round early (maybe)... All while on the college teams board.

You may be right - could have been a reach.

I personally detest the G-men - but am happy they got the kid that wanted - that he is a great kid from a great school.

FIND WHERE I MADE A STINK!!!!

EVER ABOUT THIS KID!!!

GO.

FIND.

I said earlier this week in a thread I wanted him on the Giants.

People are Fn morons....

Edit: not yelling at you, you were trying to help. Just proves the point that when it comes to Syracuse players, intelligent discussion is not tolerated.

He had 11 sacks as a defensive tackle. That's not common that's exceptional actually. Not sure what you thought you had to see that would have made you thought he was a very good player I'm not saying he's Donald from Pitt but I saw every snap as well and could clearly and easily see he was an exceptional college defensive lineman. Not sure what games you were watching.

Why do you a attack posters after the fact. Where is your post that said pre-draft that Jay would go this high? I don't see one person bashing Jay nor the pick. People are happy for him but some are surprised he went so high. Glad the Giants took him, but are you smarter than the other GM's that didn't take him? If you're going to bash every SU fan that questions whether a player may have been selected higher than thought, then you better start imparting your evaluation skills pre-draft.

The services missed him, but so did every BCS school. Are they stupid too? Or did Jay just bust his butt in the right situation and make himself an NFL player.

PS: SU isn't the only school who puts 2 star players in the NFL.

You avoided the question about finding the post where he put up a stnk.

I'm curious too, but more importantly did said team pick before the giants in round four?
Without trading, There would've been 38 picks taken before Giants picked again, the Giants weren't about to gamble he'd be there.

They expect him to play day 1.

Apparently they don't use scoot, rivals or espn high school grades in their evaluating, like some here think they do.

More of a Giants fan wondering if he was picked too high, Champ.

The reason is this happens every year. It happened with Pugh and the Jones brothers. The same thing happens on the basketball board. SU fans seem to under value the players and the program and I don't like seeing it. I've referred to it as the syracuse complex in the past.

I stated months a go that I thought he was good enough to be a first round pick. I think he had a much better career than chandler jones did I see nothing but upside in this kid. Time will tell but I think he will have successful NFL career.

As far as NFL scouts go they miss all the time too. Let's not forget there will be players that aren't even drafted this year that will become star players so that means all the scouts missed .

So you're saying he's not a good enough player to be drafted in the 3rd round? You're saying he probably won't have a good NFL career?

Where are you when SU players go lower than you expect, which there are far more of.

Actually I think he went lower than where he should have. I think he's under rated. Lately we haven't had many that have gone a lot lower Than I would have expected. I know Nassib did but I always had my reservations about him. I always felt that he lacked poise at times especially early in games.
