JB can’t do this garbage with AG

The turnover happened so quickly I missed it and was hoping for an explanation from the announcers but you are correct, absolutely nothing said they just kept talking about who knows what. The only thing I saw was JB turn quickly and point to Joe. You could tell JB was really pissed. And the announcers kept on ignoring the activity on the floor.

My guess is they aren't in the building and it was a tight shot and nobody caught the call on camera

If they are going to do remote they need a separate full court feed so they have access to see everything happening on the court in real time or replay.

One of the moments he got an earful from Jim was 1H when the guard drove left, passed buddy and into the paint. AG, naturally, cut him off and the guy tossed it to the corner and they hit a 3. Sure, the 3 came from AG's spot, and maybe in that instance he should have just showed down a little and not collapsed as far and let Marek slide fully over, but the reality is when a guy is driving right to the basket, basketball IQ steps in and you guard that spot. We can talk advanced analytics, whatever, all day about the advantage of 3s vs certain 2s but a layup will always be a higher % shot than any 3 especially if the shooting player has a direct line. Reality is that defensive possession was a result of poor D up top. When that happens, things become reactionary on the back end.

I don't watch these games looking for moments to claim nepotism. So silly. That was just a moment that stood out for me, which I found interesting.

He also was clearly unhappy with Buddy.

They likely don’t have spotters sitting on their side feeding them info like they do normally

1. He's has to play someone

2. He's going to go with the guy he trusts
Especially if your misses on the rim are as soft as a baby's butt.

Lots of folks wondered why AG didn't play more at Illinois. Maybe this is why.
its early and AG is still getting acclimated but it seems he might have a bit of jekyll and hyde to his game...when hes good hes really good...when he's off he's monstrously bad...so far anyways

what can a coach do with a player like that? benching is one of the only things that might be helpful...might snap him out of whatever funk...but not sure what else can really be done...

personally when he's o for the game and dribbling the ball off his knees ...in the second half...benching is a great idea in my book.

i dont like how short JB often keeps his leash on freshman...but at the same time...i dont like a leash that is several kilometers long for "vets", either...

Buddy will NEVER get benched. How he walks around campus and pretends he deserves what he has is beyond me.

No clue. Personally I think he should have played more and that's the guy you could have played at the 3 instead of Griffin. I also think we should have at least given Ajak some run. It wasn't like Marek was great shakes either. His points look good, but he didn't rebound and missed some easy bunnies.
And turned it over a bunch.

I saw the palm and also saw the ref make the double dribble call on my tv.

Yeah, I saw the TO call, and was like WHAT?, but then upon being replayed, it was clear as day.
An oopsie, almost every player does that once in a blue moon.

I guess JB had already had it with Alan by that point, and that was the final straw.

After a pretty absent first half, really love the way AG played the rest of the way. Did exactly what coach wanted from him the other day... defense (other than on the long 3-ball that tied it), rebounding, great pass to Marek on the break, and obviously the play of the year with that block... Winning basketball!!!

(He’s going to wear JB out though:))

And you know what type of criticism AG responds to. You've been in practice and meetings and you know how he will react?
My guess is JB has a much better idea of who he can get after, and who he can't.
Fans want honest assessments, and when they get them, they cringe.
If you can't take public criticism, don't try to be a great athlete.
This was prescient.

Luv AG. Fits in the Orange Army like he should always have been here not at Illinois. He is 100% Orange.
