JB can’t do this garbage with AG

Athleticism was sorely lacking today. Particularily offensive rebounding. What we needed was a second offensive rebounder. Buddy needs Pt to get in the flow as opposed to griffin. Compare this game (not the team) to tyler ennis team with only one shooter in Cooney. What went right and wrong? JB is right saying we are far from where we need to be.

Any poor shooting day where Girard is the second most athletic guy on the floor from a plus minus standpoint, and there isn't a 3rd (no offense to Dolezaj), means we are as raw as we can be.
And you know what type of criticism AG responds to. You've been in practice and meetings and you know how he will react?
My guess is JB has a much better idea of who he can get after, and who he can't.
Fans want honest assessments, and when they get them, they cringe.
If you can't take public criticism, don't try to be a great athlete.

On a team with young guys who don't have experience with the zone and offensive plays, that would be a problem.
Woody has shown a ton of promise in the zone this year. Better at the wing than I've seen Buddy play in the past. Don't know how Buddy did back there yesterday, but I guarantee Woody would have had more rebounds than Buddy did had he been playing. And his hustle is naturally faster than Buddy's hustle.

Did you see northeastern's offense? It wasn't the vintage Warriors out there and our best offense was Q grabbing an offensive rebound. Woody could have handled that.

A big issue was Griffin was getting roasted on the backline. That's something people have failed to mention. I think he's confused with the rotations right now. At least it looked it yesterday.

Back when we signed Buddy, I feared there would be some dissention on the team if the coach's son played the whole game when he couldn't hit water from a boat and someone else had to sit on the pine and watch it.

I never said it because I figured the board would light me up like a Christmas tree, but there it is, I've shared my fear.

Now hopefully it won't happen.
Yeah, I think that's a reasonable concern. However, Boeheim has done this over the years - certain guys sort of get a pass. Heck, he did this earlier this year with Joe. Therefore, I think it might be a bit of a reach to take the position that he's just playing buddy like he is because he's his son.

Boeheim is consistently inconsistent with his treatment of players, from what he says in press conferences about them to the amount of minutes they get on the court. We all know this so I'm a bit surprised by some of this discussion.

Mmm..I've got 2 guys not at their best. I can't sit both. One of them missed 2 weeks and needs to get the rush off. One of them is just having one of those days. What to do, what to do.
All due respect Capt, but the question for JB revolved around what each player would do for the remainder of the game. Yes, he had two choices, one was going to be the team player, defer to the hot option and the other, more of a question mark, possible hero ball, stat driven, play himself out of it.

JB chose someone he trusted. They played how he wanted. I don't think he has any regrets.

And to those who thought he could sit both, that's just crazy talk. He's not putting Woody in at this point with the game on the line. Woody is a long term 4-5 year player that will see his time come. Woody is not an integral part of the team this year, he is a developmental integral part of the future.

Griffen was sat after an unforced TO on a break, I think he bounced off his knee or foot.

That was the final straw.

I wasn't surprised at all.
Not sure if it was the same play, but AG palmed the ball while slowly dribbling unguarded in the backcourt. JB, justifiably, exploded. The TV commentators were rattling about something else at the time and never mentioned the turnover.

I thought he kicked it, whatever it was, it was an unforced TO and he was pulled immediately.

Agree that's why he was pulled.

The announcers were talking about Kadary's HS through that whole odd sequence.

The turnover happened so quickly I missed it and was hoping for an explanation from the announcers but you are correct, absolutely nothing said they just kept talking about who knows what. The only thing I saw was JB turn quickly and point to Joe. You could tell JB was really pissed. And the announcers kept on ignoring the activity on the floor.

Thats the problem with broadcasts where the announcers aren’t in the arena. They aren’t always paying attention.

One of the moments he got an earful from Jim was 1H when the guard drove left, passed buddy and into the paint. AG, naturally, cut him off and the guy tossed it to the corner and they hit a 3. Sure, the 3 came from AG's spot, and maybe in that instance he should have just showed down a little and not collapsed as far and let Marek slide fully over, but the reality is when a guy is driving right to the basket, basketball IQ steps in and you guard that spot. We can talk advanced analytics, whatever, all day about the advantage of 3s vs certain 2s but a layup will always be a higher % shot than any 3 especially if the shooting player has a direct line. Reality is that defensive possession was a result of poor D up top. When that happens, things become reactionary on the back end.

I don't watch these games looking for moments to claim nepotism. So silly. That was just a moment that stood out for me, which I found interesting.

Thanks, I guess I did not know they were not in the arena. Is that true for all games or was it just yesterday's game?

I think he did both. 2 separate incidents.

That was the final straw. AG was called for a palming violation while dribbling with no one around him. JB immediately pointed to the bench after that. It’s absurd ppl on this board think he should have been kept in the game. Also buddy had a huge deflection and a steal on the press that led to us getting a lead. It’s the same crap from the same ppl with their agenda over n over again.

Probably going to happen all year as long as Covid is a thing.
