JB can’t do this garbage with AG

There's a difference between executing and executing well. Griffin wasn't doing either. He just wasn't present on offense - 4 shots, all of which were misses, is not what he's being asked to do. Buddy and Joe, for all their garbage games, put up shots and execute the plan (mostly). Doesn't always go well but it is what it is.

cool. so missing 11 out of 12 shots is now a positive. ok. got it.

Tony Dungey once said I treat everyone fairly, but that doesn't mean I treat everyone the same.
Jimmie Johnson once said he had a rookie FA DB fall asleep in a meeting once and I yelled at him to leave and cut him the next day, he then had Troy Aikman fall asleep in a meeting and he quietly nudged him and told him to wake up.

so buddy is troy aikman now. ok. and griffen is the rookie FA DB. the analogy falls apart when you realize its not even close to that situation.

I guess you didn't hear JB's presser.
Saw it... really an attack on AG. Don’t think JB has gone after anyone like this. Maybe Paul Harris? Anything to justify his son’s play... Cringeworthy presser. Came across as a Buddy/AG comparison. Love how “Buddy’s misses usually set our guys up for offensive rebounds”...
We need AG in order to be good. No need for this.

Athleticism was sorely lacking today. Particularily offensive rebounding. What we needed was a second offensive rebounder. Buddy needs Pt to get in the flow as opposed to griffin. Compare this game (not the team) to tyler ennis team with only one shooter in Cooney. What went right and wrong? JB is right saying we are far from where we need to be.

Any poor shooting day where Girard is the second most athletic guy on the floor from a plus minus standpoint, and there isn't a 3rd (no offense to Dolezaj), means we are as raw as we can be.

We need a good AG, not the guy who was playing today.

wait. he said that? i wish i could get a scholly, theyll be set up for a huge number of offensive rebounds as i make zero shots.

I would have played Woody. The defense that Buddy hustles is crap. He had more turnovers and fouls than made baskets. He is a good player who gets too many minutes and if people don't think it's because of his last name we will agree to disagree

AG's dad played for PJ Carlesimo, so the skin is tough enough to take it. JB trusted a guy who has been in the program 3 years to play steady at the end of the game. Not sure why that's such a big deal.

It's nice that we have workable combos and should have more in 6 weeks.

Mr. Literalist, my post is what I thought was an interesting and humorous insight into championship coaches and how they view their fairness of treating their players. Nothing to do with the literal conclusion of who's who or right or wrong.

Some of the people opining on this admitted they didn't watch the game. Griffin and Buddy both stunk. JB took both out like 6 minutes into the half and put in Woody and Richmond. After 5-6 minutes of gameplay went by where we grabbed the lead and they were both put back in the game. The sequence that led JB to taking Griffin out was getting his pocket picked by being careless on a fast break while we were ahead. Girard came in for Griffin, Buddy moved to the 3 and we didn't sub the rest of the game. If Griffin never gets his pocket picked there is a very good chance he finishes the game.

Let's face it AG would probably beat Buddy in all aspects of the game except maybe a 3-point shooting contest. Both had off days and were non-factors but AG was more of a letdown than Buddy because more is expected of AG. His ceiling is higher; he's indicated that he's already thinking about the draft. Sitting him lets him know that he has a way to go before he has the consistent play of an Elijah Hughes. My only critique is that Woody should have been playing the 3 position rather than Buddy. As an aside, I want to see much more Kadary. Think he and Q have the highest ceilings on the team and brightest eventual careers.

Any idea on why Woody didn't get any more run?

No clue. Personally I think he should have played more and that's the guy you could have played at the 3 instead of Griffin. I also think we should have at least given Ajak some run. It wasn't like Marek was great shakes either. His points look good, but he didn't rebound and missed some easy bunnies.

I keep wondering if the team plays tight when the score is tight, or is it JB who coaches tight when the score is tight. Feels like we had the athletes that should have just run NE out of the gym yesterday.

I agree on all of your points - as for Kadary I too think he needs minutes (though I do think the hype is ahead of the performance) especially when we need D or stop passing. That said the conundrum is, deep down we all know that if he gets more minutes they will come at JG3's expense and for me that is not always the team benefit. I don't think you will see Kadary and JG3 playing major minutes together.

But that feels like exactly what we should see. Put the ball in Richmond's hands and let Joe be the 2 guard. Our defense is better, and we have a true PG running the show.

Totally get that and understand. For me I think true PG is not that big of a deal. I like when we have it shared as we have done successfully in previous years. I want the 2 guys who are playing the best that game to play a lot that game.

I think Joe has some special qualities, and can be a good player for us. But a kid who has been the primary scorer for his entire life is not someone I want being the primary ball handler when we have the opportunity to pound the ball to Q inside and take advantage of true mismatches. Joe wasn't getting by anyone in the time I saw. But Kadary can and will. And he makes his foul shots, and will find an open shooter on the wing if they are open. Joe will drive, get stopped, and do his turn around that may go in, may fall short, or may get rejected into his face.

Who missed more shots?

Has half as many rebounds ?
Half as many steals ?

it’s not even close when you miss double-digit shots and don’t get rebounds or steals your plus minus is terrible
He didn't miss shots because he didn't take them. He was awful on both ends. If his argument fir minutes is he can rebound better than buddy boeheim god help us

Mmm..I've got 2 guys not at their best. I can't sit both. One of them missed 2 weeks and needs to get the rush off. One of them is just having one of those days. What to do, what to do.
