JB on ESPN2 talking Red

This has already been proven false by many respected insiders here and off this board as well. We are in the middle of the pack of a very competitive conference. Aka, we should have absolutely made the tournament and maybe even won a couple games this year in march.
Right. You're telling me Stanford, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Pitt, Florida State spent more than us? I'm not buying it. This team didn't suck. We went toe to toe with Houston and bear Tennessee. This team gave up, and that's on the coaches

And the players, players should want to win

Donnie and J.J. had bad years...

It is on the coach to figure out what to do to get his two best players to not have a bad year.

That is why Red is losing his job. Look at this team and how they were playing at the start of the season. We held in close/won against some solid teams.

The team regressed over the year and regression is on the coach.
My jaw dropped when JB went from saying we had two top players with bad years and that’s why we stunk this year (not Reds fault) to … GMac going to the big dance, and he did it without his two best players. I love JB but sheesh.

JB says things to fit his view of the world. His view of the world isn’t always right even though his ego believes he is.

I wanted Red and crew to be successful especially since I got to know Griff on the golf course a little bit. I wish them all the future success someplace.

Now is the time to make the complete break from the JB family tree. Yes, I fully admit i did not appreciate him enough while he was here but his last few years with “brother ball” were brutal for me as a fan. He’s a hall of famer but the college landscape had changed. He was not prepared for it nor was anyone on his immediate coaching family tree and here we are.

Heck, I;m not even sure I’m prepared to like what college basketball is turning into, but whatever, we’ve beaten that horse to death. if we can get our mojo back in basketball and football I’ll be a happy dude. I dont need to see the sausage being made as long as we have all the correct ingredients and the people who are willing to assemble it.

Boeheim said he still thinks Autry was the right choice, but circumstances negatively affected it. That disqualifies him for having a reasonable opinion for the next coach.

every school needs more money, including Ohio State and Louisville, according to their ADs. Let the HoF’er cook while we still have him.

Then what did we have?
Like $5 million. It has been discussed on the board. That is double the year before. We need closer to $8-$10 to be competitive. That is why Boeheim is saying it in my opinion. Not to be an old meanie or something. He wants people to contribute who have it. He has known Red for decades so I take that with a grain of salt.

I’ve heard were closer to the front ( 5 or 6 ) ….. I’ve heard right in the middle ….. I’ve heard near the back as far as NIL $$$ are concerned. I honestly have no idea at this point although I’m pretty sure it’s well behind Duke and UNC.

After the head coach is hired, the new AD needs to schedule one game per year at MSG (NOT Barclays!!!!) for the NY metro Syracuse alums to go to a game every year. A large number of the Syracuse alums with money live in the NY metro area and they remember the games at MSG when Syracuse was in the Big East and getting them to a game is a great way to market the team and get alums to donate. And, it might help recruiting if players know they will play at MSG every year.

Best post ever. This has turned into a "Bash the 2nd winningest coach in college basketball history" thread.

Most threads have been going that way. I understand the frustrations, but it’s getting tiresome.

Yeah, JB didn’t end things well. Cool. Let’s have 40 more posts about how sad he’s made everyone and how it’s all his fault.

I think you just described every human ever, including me and you and everybody here.
Most of us actually don’t have the opportunity to spout our nonsense to the world though. Just this motley crew.

And…most of us actually concede we don’t know everything, unlike JAB.

One candidate is the king of MSG. Let’s hope he returns.

The king of MSG? Gerry had some great games and runs but coming up on six decades the players that have come and gone lighting up the Garden at the pro and college level , even many of our own Orange not named GMac, have something to say about that.

Damn that Hokie education really failed you….

I think most want to move on from the "Jim just says stuff" narrative, but then he goes on national TV and throws the school under the bus 3 years after he retired.

Who's fault is that?

He's doing color on games, so he's going to be put in situations to comment on the hires of his school.

It would be nice if he actually did that with some semblance of tact and with messaging coordinated with AD department that he supposedly works for, instead of just shooting from the hip unfiltered and putting his foot in his mouth by disparaging the school's funding.

It's abundantly clear, like always, he's just gonna say whatever he wants.

In any event, his actions have dredged up the usual criticism, and rightfully so.

I get the JB apologists are sick hearing the criticism, but he makes his bed with dumb new comments every so often, so he really brings the criticism on himself

It's clear he couldn't care less about that criticism. He's not bothered by it, so you shouldn't be either.

Some of y’all have Boeheim Derangement Syndrome. I listened to his full interview. As usual, his comments were fair and truthful.
