JB on First Take approx 11:30 AM today

Someone tell Dan that Jb won't b e reviewing his squad heading in to March Madness

Squad seems a bit defeated. Not a lot of hopes for a deep run.

JB was great. He looks like hes 60 and is as sharp as ever.
Ive mentioned my Dad many times on this board. Hes 88 and still climbs, sails, and rows his boat 2 to 4 miles 3-4 times a week in the summer. Hes as sharp as a tack. My point is age is a number. Physical and mental health are what matters and from what i see Jim really isnt slowing down.

Oh, that just isn't so. He doesn't come close to hitting the recruiting road as he once did. That isn't a guess. That is a fact. And I don't really blame him. But that is the job. Our rivals are out there beating the bushes. He sends his ass'ts out. It isn't fair to them. Or us. And it leads to 16-17 seasons.

Agreed. But its not because he cant.

I’m still gonna disagree with the last recruiting cycle. He was everywhere and people on the recruiting board made note of it.

Well, he doesn't. Yes, it's not because he is in a wheelchair. But age does effect desire. And energy. JB had an amazing run at Syracuse. Whoever follows almost certainly won't do as well. But they can exceed what we have done the last 8 years. They better. Or they won't have the job very long.

Nope. He wasn't everywhere. His performance the last cycle reminds me of when I managed a sales force. You have everyone else going at 100% and you have one guy doing 50%. Then, he spurts to 80% and everyone says how much he has improved. Improved yes, but still not good enough.

Agree to disagree.

Agree to disagree.
I'll give you an example. On the day before JJ was to visit Syracuse, Brey and his entire staff went to watch JJ practice. We sent AA. No JB. Okay. But JB didn't go anywhere else to watch anyone else. Jb doesn't go anywhere once practice starts. Let alone games. At the HOOP Hall classic this year, Cal showed up on Sunday. On Saturday, Kentucky had played Tenn. JB just doesn't do that anymore. And hasn't for years. This past year, he was on the road during the summer. But he is outworked by other head coaches.

Always has the dry, caustic sense of humor. As someone with the same tendencies, it can sometimes be off putting. Not everyone gets you in the way you intended, and it reeks of insecurity.
Or, CNY has one of the most "eat your own" mindsets of any region in the country.

It's really hard to debate this. It is what it is and it matters to kids.

And recruiting was shut down for a year-plus for COVID.

This past December.

“It’s not just that he’s still going, it’s the way that he does it,” Wright, 59, said of Boeheim. “I wish people would know how hard he works in recruiting. You see him at all the events, you see him out all the time at games, seeing guys play.”

“It’s always kind of motivating to me. At his age, if he’s still doing it like this, he ‘s till working hard, we’ve gotta keep going to keep up with him. .That’s really the way you look at it, you gotta try to keep up with him.”
