Gottlieb takes a lot crap here (some of it deserved), but he knows the game, usually has great observations or points to make, and was spot on when talking to JB about this year's team. He even made a point about Arinzie and that team on the fly. He knows his stuff.

I was going to wait until after the tournament to ask this but since the topic has come up: Before the season it was said with confidence by a couple people that Marek planned to only stay one year and then return to Europe. Do we know if this is still the plan (or was it ever his plan)? I think this kid has the potential to be absolutely amazing when he adds some bulk and gets his confidence up. Really hoping to see him develop.

yeah, JB called out Doug's hypocrisy, for slamming us in the past for our poor OOC and how that should keep us out, meanwhile Ok State had a horrific OOC this year and yet DG thought they should be in. Doug kind of backed off on the Ok State deserving to get in thing and seemed to want to move on from his SU should be out crap. the two of them generally got along well, Gottlieb wasn't nearly as obnoxious as normal. he must be medicated.

Used to be 2nd rounders got no guaranteed money. But lately the top half of the 2nd round many are getting 1 year $5oo-600k guarantees. IMO Battle is a lock to be no worse than top half of the 2nd round -- so he's gone. It would be a gamble to return and hope to be 1st round while also being a year older. I don't think Brissett will leave. With any improvement to his shooting consistency (which should happen) he will be a 1st rounder next year.

This group is tight. I would not put it past them for all to come back. I don't expect it but this tourney run and the genuine spirit of comraderie makes you think. If we win at least two more games, things could change for sure.

This was a really good interview. And JB did take Gottlieb to task for flip-flopping on his bubble criteria.

I think Boeheim is better on radio than on tv, especially most post-game interviews. I don't know what it is. Maybe he's more comfortable talking off the cuff on the radio? But he just sounds less defensive and is more insightful.
