I get it. SU is being conservative. And for a school that has twice been on probation with a HOF head coach that had over 100 wins taken away from him, there probably is reason to be conservative, even though what SU was accused of doing in the past is nothing compared to what is being done now in NIL world. But that doesn't mean I have to be happy that Jesse Edwards' dad already presumably knows that his son will make more NIL money at other specific schools where it has been presumably promised to him that he will get that money if he plays for said specific schools.
In my opinion, you cannot read the current NCAA regulations for boosters (written at and for a different time when NIL did not exist) as being directly applicable to the current NIL world. There is not one NIL deal, even the ones that SU is currently brokering with our collective, that are not in spirit contingent on attendance at a specific institution, including SU. So if SU is really worried about being conservative and really wants to avoid even violating the spirit of the law, they should just get out of the NIL business altogether and be safe yet also suck at every sport we play.
