JGIII

I think it's mostly mental. He's lost confidence and the mistakes are building, creating more pressure. Add to that a FR true PG who has more physical ability and a great game already and he is pressing. It seems like he wants to play like he can but he seems to be overthinking everything which slows him down. The more he presses, the worse he plays and it affects both ends. IMO, he just needs to find a way to "just play". There is a place for JG lll of last year, although it may not be the same role he had. Just play, Joe.

Teams have tape on Joe. They realize he isnt a threat off the dribble and is a liability on D.
Joe is a 2. He isnt a PG.

Disagree with the “tape” part...maybe we’ll see that in acc play, agree that he’s not a PG

You can slice and dice it any which way you want to, but the bottom line for joe is that if he can’t make at least 40% and preferably 45% of his trey attempts then he is a net liability. Last season after the collapse of Carey, joes dribbling and ball handling guaranteed him a big role, does not appear that that should be enough this season. Shooters go hot and cold, and joe will have some big games, but I am talking about overall sustainability. As for kadary, so far so good, but let’s remember that Carey started great and then collapsed, we need to see at least five solid games with some being against better competition before we start to make any sort of conclusions about him.

Joe shot well today. Kadary is going to get Joe and Buddy better looks. Joe is also going to benefit by not having to handle the rock on every possession. He was still loose with his handle and passing. As a shooter when he is on hes got NBA + range. It was good to see him have a solid game.

First, kudos to JGIII. Bounced back. Acknowledge the rough start. He took four shots from like 23'+ that he missed. Granted, one was a heat check after he started super hot. Not complaining by any means, but point being is you can see how good he can be... Great night, no doubt.

And one big thing, when Kadary is handling in the half court and JGIII is sprinting around screens... you can see how the offense can really crank up because all of a sudden you have a guy that can rip through the D with the ball and a guy that if he gets a clean look making your defense chase. I can see a lot of "Kadary drives... swings it cross court to Girard... Squared up coming off the baseline screens... and it's good!".

**BIG DISCLAIMER: Not comparing NBA player to college, just the type of play**

When you run guys around the D like that (like Ray, Steph, JJ) all of sudden you got defenses on their heels...

Not saying should be the only ball handler by any means, but I really think if he gets to be the primary ball handler, I think JGIII's efficiency is going to be much, much better. Some nights JG's shots just won't fall. Is what it is. Some nights Kadary will look like a freshman.

Kadary can unlock a lot of potential for JGIII and maybe let him be more of a scorer than ball handler. Let him get his swag back and stop worrying about initiating the offense so much.

He has also turned into quite a shot blocker ;)

When he takes to the hoop even when it’s a break away his height jumping ability and speed are not D1 caliber. You just hope he gets fouled because most of time it’s not a bucket but a turnover. A block.

I don’t understand the reason why people feel the need to express their loathing of certain players

Personally, if he's not handling the ball, let him sprint to the wing to get ready for a three on the break.

Yes, he's not great at finishing at the rim, so space the floor on the break with him getting behind the arc waiting to receive a pass if they take away the direct line to the rim.

Before the game started I predicted JGIII would have 20+ points, 5 3’s and 6+ assists. Well he finished with 21 points, 5 threes and 5 assists.

;)
JG3 did have a great shooting night but he also had 5 turnovers tonight in 3 games JG3 has averaged 34 mpg. with 11 assists and 11 turnovers against 3 lower level teams he really needs to use better judgment on his passing and ball handling as for Kadary in 3 games he has averaged 25 mpg. with 13 assists 7 turnovers as a true freshman . JG3 is a seasoned soph. he really needs to take better care of the rock and find his teammates for some easy baskets I think he will improve in these areas.

i don't know what the issue is. don't really want to jump to conclusions after another bad game, but sadly he just stagnates the offense too much, while not playing defense very well..

if he's not making any of the other players better with his passing and IQ, it makes him look worse shooting bricks.

no way he's as bad as the last 2 games.

people already have forgotten that he dropped 30 on nc state last year
imo he just hasn't found his groove again yet. When he comes off a screen and would have at least thought about a 3 last year he seems gunshy now. I assume some from coaches toning some of the wilder shots, but the first few games certainly wouldn't help anyones mojo. He will undoubtedly come up big for us for years to come.
