Jim Nantz retiring after this years NCAAs, Ian Eagle in

Nantz going to Vegas radio on Sirius xm like musburger?

Didn’t see that coming. Wonder what he is planning.

BTW, his column in Golf Digest is routinely a great read.

About 10 years ago, a good buddy of mine called into the Dan Patrick Show and won a "Jim Nantz impression contest." It was amazing.

Looking at Wiki Nantz is 63 years old with kids that are 8 and 6 with his second wife.

Sounds like he will still keep busy announcing NFL games, The Masters and driving those kids around.

gotta assume this is just from the final 4. It would be push notification if masters and NFL.

Hopefully CBS elevates Jim Spanarkel along with Mr. Eagle. Those two have been the best broadcast duo in the NCAAT for many years now.
I don’t watch much NBA but doesn’t Spanarkel and Eagle do Brooklyn Nets games on YES together?

Being in my mid 30s and watching March Madness my entire life it’s going to be so weird watching the games without both Verne Lundquist and Jim Nantz. That’s all I’ve ever known.
I started watching the Final Four when it was Musberger and Packer. Loved Musberger but Nantz stepped in and didn’t miss a beat. I never liked Packer as an analyst. Thankfully he’s long gone. Raf is the best color guy in the biz and glad he’s doing the FF now.

Packer was the WORST!

Eagle will do great

I wish Gus Johnson was still at CBS
I'm glad he's at Fox so I don't have to watch him. He gets too wrapped up, à la Curt Gowdy, in the idea that this regular season game in January is the most important event happening on the planet right now. He's far too over-the-top when there's no reason to be.

I guess I'd rather have someone be a little over the top than to listen to announcers who never build excitement even when it's appropriate.

Maybe just me, but I'm glad this is Jim Nantz last year at the Dance. He's gotten to be too much for me just saying "stuff".
When he first started, I liked what he did. Much cleaner and listenable.

Very good for many years, but the last two or so he has really slipped on the college basketball side. It was easy to tell he was no longer as invested the way he might be on other assignments. It was time for the torch to be passed.
