JJ is the only ACC level player on the roster

Two years ago we were really really bad, and we had no depth. I still have more hope for this year's team compared to that one. We started out 3-4, with a loss to Bryant where Judah got ejected for slapping Doug Edert in the face. Benny Williams was one of our 5 best players. So was Freshman Chris Bell. I'm not ready to concede that we are worse than that team.
That team competed pretty consistently early outside of the Illinois game. Things fell off the rails toward the end but they were blowing out bad competition sans Bryant

I don't think that's completely true. In their first 5 games, they lost at home to Colgate, lost on a neutral court to a non-tournament St. John's team, needed overtime to beat a very bad Richmond team, and lost at home to Bryant. They beat Lehigh and Northeastern comfortably, but I wouldn't say they were consistent before they Illinois game.

Eh, I don’t think it’s a question of ‘ACC Level’ because I think most of these guys could fill some sort of role on a lot of acc rosters. It’s more a question of the role.

Like there’s a pretty good chance bell will lead this team in scoring, but is he a player that should be playing that many minutes and playing that large a role? Probably not.

You could go through every single player and say that. There may be some guys who shouldn’t be in the ACC near the end of the roster, but most are just miscast in roles far bigger than they should be.
I agree... Maybe you could argue nobody on the team is ACC Championship calibre.

But the roster is filled with ACC quality players.

The Cole Swider team would score 110 points against this team lol

They were a categorically better basketball team

Maybe Freeman can get there

Maybe Freeman can get there

Bell is useless if he’s not shooting 50% from three

From a defensive standpoint potentially, I certainly hope not. Jaquan seems like a great kid, however cannot stick at this point. Start choppa, JJ at the 1, we must assign defensive roles and move the ball. This will help JJ facilitate. It could be a long year. I do not know if I see alot of defensive potential as well....

Biggest improvement on D last game was Freeman. I think he sat most of the second half against Colgate and got the message. Slid to help at rim Much better. The guy he was covering had a lot of points at the rim, but they were shots he had to adjust. Much better effort, slightly better results.

Still not sure why Red has Lampkin guarding a 7’3” center 20 feet from the basket leaving the lane open. When he was up there, he did a good job hedging few times on the point guard after screens, but if their center had any kind of pick and roll game at all, he was rolling to the hoop uncovered, each time. I really think keeping Eddie in the paint would help us, so he does not have to chase. On the flipside, his offensive skillset is a combo of Arinze and Sherman Douglas. Very fun to watch and missing on our team for years.
Keeping Eddie in the paint would help so many of our current issues

I would say they were consistent through to Duke. Had a couple 10-15 point losses but competed with UNC, Miami, and Virginia, beat NC State, FSU, ND, VT and blew out some bad teams like Monmouth, GT, Cornell etc. I’m not sure this iteration beats anyone outside of Georgetown
