JJ / Left Hand Injury

If it's not his shooting hand, he might be able to play. If not, next man up. We have seen teams coalesce and regroup with a major player down. Moore has proven that he can contribute, Cuffe and Carlos both have a golden opportunity to show that as veterans they can step in and fill the void. Bell, also must lead as the most senior player on the team. It is a great chance for us to see what this team is made of win or lose. Its all about fight and effort tonight.
 
He’s the one guy we couldn’t afford to lose.

we wont be able to get it over half court tonight unless Tennessee is feeling generous.

By the way, these are the TOTAL stats for our guards this year not named JJ (Moore, Carlos, Taylor, Cuffe) -

29/82 from the field (35%) - JJ was 44/94 (47%)
9/34 from 3 (26%) - JJ was 9/31 (29%)
15/23 from FT (65%) - JJ was 22/32 (69%)
27 assists, 10 turnovers (not bad!) - JJ was 18ast/13TOs

JJ won us the Youngstown State game and without him we get boat raced by Texas Tech and probably Texas.

If you look at Bart Torvik , our 2 worst players this year that get regular time are Taylor and Carlos.

I am extremely frustrated with Red at this point
 
No big deal we need Moore to play like a senior now and average double digit points. And Chance needs to be at 70 % of what he’s capable of and we have a chance at above a .500 record.

I can’t believe people are taking this so lightly.

Who exactly is going to DRIBBLE the ball?

If we lost Judah last year for a month, at least JJ and Quadir could somewhat manage that.

We have no one this year who can do that without JJ

Agreed. You have to start Choppa, especially given the last outing. If nothing else, this is the tie to force feed him PT, for developmental purposes.

Cuffe becomes "next man up," and now finds himself squarely back in the rotation.

Carlos has a big opportunity in front of him to right the ship and start producing. Otherwise, bench him.

Who do you bench Carlos for now? JJ played as many minutes as any guard in the country

I think the people that are saying no big deal are doing that because his loss doesn't really impact the season. Unless some miracle happened we were going to miss the tournament and on our way to a real bad season. So in the scope of team record and stuff probably not going to change our outcome much.

Now it sucks for JJ.
Now it sucks for his teammates.
Now it sucks for Red as he may be tied to a worse record for a long long time maybe ever.

And they have to get Chance out there, assuming it won't put him in health danger.

will we even make the ACC conference? I think it's limited to the 15 teams. Will we be among the bottom 3?

And fair or not, if we win 10 games this year and it don’t make the tournament next year, that’s got to be it for Red. The natives will be extremely restless and unforgiving. injuries happen, and the coach needs to construct a roster that can we stand them and still be competitivewe stand them and still be competitive. We haven’t looked competitive with the full roster in place... And for all the grief JB has gotten here recently (fully warranted IMO), he never came close to a 10 win season.
 
Well our already almost dead season would be officially dead. Like others have said, get ready for next year and do what we can do until he is back. Thank goodness for football.. :(

I think losing JJ will be Red's crutch for an awful season which may have happened anyway. But with next year's incoming class, Red wasn't going to be let go.

What? It absolutely impacts our season. He’s clearly our best offensive player. He’s the only player on the team with his skill set. Without him we have at least 1 more loss, if not more because you could argue if JJ doesn’t play against LeMoyne or Colgate, but Moore/Taylor take all his minutes …. We lose both of those games.

We are a 4-2 team with JJ and without him you could argue we’d be 1-5

Could be the new "we would have made the tourney if Jesse didnt get hurt when we had a .500 record after 24 games at the time he got hurt". Always a favorite

Right, but the argument is we are not a tournament team with JJ and not a tournament team without JJ.

Will we look worse? Of course
Will we lose more games? Of course

But in the end, the result will be the same no tournament.

I just hope it's not so bad that we have young talent portaling at the close of the season.
