I'm sure he'd like any overlap with his brother.Wouldn’t be surprised if Symir takes a 5th year. Hoping he does

Not saying they are top 10 or anything, but if we had everyone back, we would result in way more than 1 or 2 extra wins. We are a lot better than we were at the beginning of the year and there is room for significant growth between now and next year from the freshman. But this isn’t happening, so yes, let’s please hit the portal and upgrade a few positions. They are different players with different usage rates, as well as permissions, but - as freshmen - I think Taylor is better than Buddy. Where that leads, I don't know.
That said, running this team back again next year with no changes results in a win or two extra, that's about it. They're not turning into a top-25 team and a 4 seed. Add a SF out of the portal, which should have happened last offseason, and who loses the starting job? Bell? Taylor?
Team needs more help than is possible. The D is terrible.
Yes agreed, but I’ll take 3 years of Taylor over one more of Joe.
If we’re going to keep playing the zone 24/7, it’ll help to have a 6’7 guard up top rather than a 5’10 one.
Feels like Joe gets some of those because he relies on the other guard to apply pressure on the ball. Joe gets the benefit of a rushed pass. It’s a smart move, but I’m confident a taller and longer Taylor can get those as well. And also be able to contest some of the shots beyond the arc.Taylor would probably be better at closeouts in the zone just due to his size alone, but I'm not sure he'd be any better at stopping penetration into the middle of the zone, which is an Achilles heel for the defense. His numbers are down a little bit this year, but for his career, Joe also averages 1.5 steals per game. He was 7th in the ACC in that category last year.
Not seeing it. The middle of SU's schedule this year was exceptionally favorable and it colors that perception. There are 31 regular season games this season. If you rank by metrics (pick your poison), of the 16 games against the stronger half of their schedule, they went 2-9 so far (with wins against Cornell and a short-handed VT team who smoked them when they were full strength). Of their remaining 6 games, 5 are against the stronger teams on their schedule who rank ahead of Syracuse in NET, KenPom, SRS, whatever. They'll probably win against GTech and maybe pick up one more that is more or less a coinflip resulting in a 16 or 17 wins. Not saying they are top 10 or anything, but if we had everyone back, we would result in way more than 1 or 2 extra wins. I never mentioned Sy once. Also, they play different positions. It’s ironic that some people want to move on from Joe to give Taylor the time, but want to keep Symir instead of giving Copeland time. Makes no sense because Joe is better than all of them and it’s not even close.
Sy is better than Copeland right now. I don't think that should be controversialIt’s ironic that some people want to move on from Joe to give Taylor the time, but want to keep Symir instead of giving Copeland time. Makes no sense because Joe is better than all of them and it’s not even close.
Well we didn't get this version of Girard his first 3 seasons either and I know he was playing out of position. I'm not sure how we can make such a bold statement when said player is shooting 43% from behind the arc. He's not asked to carry the offensive load...yet.Justin will never be the shooter that Joe is. He doesn’t have the shot hunter mentality that Joe has. Joe has great footwork on the perimeter and in the lane. He doesn’t have the range either.
