Joe Moorhead for next HC

Although, Holy Cross was beaten by Merrimack College today. Must have shot his wad in last week’s chess match against Randy Edsall.

Bob Chesney remember the name.

If Oregon had lost would you be floating his name right now? Come on, this guy is not our coach
Yes.
The dude was awesome at Fordham and as OC of Penn State.
The fact you post what you did shows you don’t follow the process that well.

Moorhead is a Northeast guy. My post HAS ZERO to do with Oregon winning.
Absolutely nothing. They could have lost by 56 today and he would be a top tier candidate.

I think Moorhead has to be in the discussion. I really don't want to hear about recruiting anymore. We will be a 50-60 ranked recruiting machine if Nick Saban was coaching at Syracuse. I want a guy who can coach up recruits and manage a game and can unearth those new england recruits that will build this up via the trenches. Pasqualoni did it, it can be done again

Because of one bonehead play you would not hire the coach?
No way he should have laid down at the 1. 1:30 left in the game and you go up 5 and force them to go the length of the field and score a td to beat you. And your defense played great the whole game. I'll take my chances there.

Of course, anyone who doesn't agree with Alsacs doesn't 'follow the process that well'.

Yeah or maybe don’t call me out when your point is totally off base.
Thanks for coming though. Moorhead is probably too good for our job. Which is why I said it’s a best case.

We'll be home to the guys who are either very damaged (i'm thinking Art Briles types), extremely young and up and coming (Chesney type) or guys who are older coordinator types (GROB/Spaziani)

Not sure we'll get THE hot guy. I think we have to hope for the three pointer with the up and coming guy who we promote a job or two before he's ready for power 5.

We can’t keep changing head coaches after 5 years we will never make progress

the thing is we loose some really good defensive coaches. White, West, Monroe. The entire D staff really. Losing the Kent state guy in hindsight was the undoing and the hiring of Martin was dagger #2. I can’t see Babers surving another OC at this point but if he’s retained he’s gotta cut bait with Gilbert.

Sean Lewis
He took the perennial worst team in the MAC and turned them in to a big, strong, fast team that passes the eye test. They look like a legit mid-major power with their Chargers inspired uni's.

Hate to be that guy but I will be, I called the Gilbert hire from day 1 what it was, which was a horrible hire. He got ran out of USF and fell into a P5 job which was a major upgrade. To me his hiring signaled that the wheels had come off.

Alsacs, Moorhead stinks

Tony Elliott is who I would go after OP if I were Syracuse...

I’d rather have the Tulane guy or coastal Carolina.. young coaches with exciting inventive offenses.

Why the hell would he leave for us? He has his pick of jobs and we won’t be it.

  • Wow

Definitely worth considering naming him now as interim and see how he does. If it works out, most/all the defensive coaches stay after he takes them to a bowl.

Joe or Doug should be the first call. I know some of the issues that Doug had with the athletic department when his left have since been resolved (or rather, left).

I heard great things about Joe when he was at Fordham which is a really, really tough place to coach at.

We need a Northeast guy who can connect with the Northeast High Schools. Problem is there are very very few of them. Pretty much Moorhead or Marrone.

I'm 100% on board with bringing Marrone back.

Keep the D staff intact. The last time around Shafer basically had his own Fiefdom with the d and Tony White can have the same thing. Marrone brings along his OC of choice and retains whomever he wants.

I just want a program where we are consistently good and occasionally great, and Marrone is capable of that. At least we will be consistent.

No interest in Marrone...Marrone hates recruiting and you never rehire a former head coach...he moved on. you all should also...No interest in Moorehead either. Moorehead won some games at Fordham and was hot garbage at Mississippi state. He is Norv Turner...better OC than HC.

I can't see him staying around more than a 2-3 years and then we're right back to where we are now.
