the thing is we loose some really good defensive coaches. White, West, Monroe. The entire D staff really. Losing the Kent state guy in hindsight was the undoing and the hiring of Martin was dagger #2. I can’t see Babers surving another OC at this point but if he’s retained he’s gotta cut bait with Gilbert.

It's Dino's system that sucks, not just Gilbert. Dino needs to go also

Disagree. Depends on how things go down. I don’t think Dino would begrudge and I would wager Lewis would save some of Dino’s staff including White, Swag daddy and Schmidt. 3 guys we would be happy to retain and Dino would support his staff being protected.

I just think White, Swag and Schmidt have shown well, though Schmidt has only been short term. Seems like his message is getting to his players though.

I really don't want to get dragged into the debate at hand. But I can tell you this: the "Marrone hates recruiting" is a misrepresentation. Marrone hated recruiting with his "hands tied behind his back" - lack of facilities and resources and AD accountability and salary increases for his staff.

He was here when we were not in the ACC, did not have the level of investment in the program we have now facility wise nor the level of investment for assistants. And yes all of those things make a difference lol.

Secondarily, not sure how he can be the OL coach at Alabama if he hates recruiting.

I’d take marrone over moorehead all day, but I still think both of them are outdated. I’d rather see a younger hungry offensive minded coach if dino can’t turn it around. Although I’m sick of the evolving door man I really just want dino to figure it out and give us stability.

Yeah, I mean you can get on Dino for recruiting, I guess, but that offense is all on the QB and really generic WRs. Maybe keep Tommy for the 2nd quarter, but he's not the answer after all this time.

It’s a way overblown narrative. There’s lots of coaches that get tired of recruiting for obvious reasons. Marrone doesn’t need to be the most active guy recruiting anyway. He comes in when necessary and lets guys on staff do the work that sucks and he probably didn’t love. Overall players he recruited seemed to like him and kids that went elsewhere never said anything bad about his recruiting.

Not that complicated. You don’t sit around doing nothing when you see a guy perform worse than Shafer and almost Grob levels. I remember you calling for Shafer to be let go and somehow this is normal and okay coaching. Today was insane and we’ve seen it multiple times over the years. The defeatism that we can’t find a coach that can win at least 4-6 games a year is insane. I know it’s CNY but come on. We don’t have to settle for a coach that can’t win winnable games.

007 you certainly are closer to any information than I am so am certainly not going to argue the point, was just commenting based on what I recall hearing about it. If not accurate, I am happy to recant, my intent certainly was not to spread info that was wrong.

No the offense is all on Dino. It's his system and if TD is trotted out there because Dino thinks he is the "guy" then the issue is all on Dino. If you look at SU through NON orange glasses you will see how bad of a coach Dino really is. He has had some great wins followed up by complete collapses. (Beating Clemson then lossing next five). I just don't know how anyone can make excuse for him anymore.

I did say aside from White...

Monroe brings in a decent recruit or two but where has that got us? And I was beating the drum prior to last season that his group of safties was one if the worst performing on the team. They were great last year. I still say he is very replaceable.

Syracuse just can’t have an undisciplined team that regularly is among the most flagged in the BCS. They also can’t afford to have an awful in game manager. We just don’t have the horses to overcome these things and beat P5 and upper echelon G5 teams.
