Justin Lamson is our guy, we just need a coach who can develop him

If Marrone left because he wasn't given what he was promised, people in high places know and know whether he would have interest. I think Marrone is also smart enough to understand there is a different AD that has been making good on promises and providing better support in conjunction with ACC money he never had.

If he has interest, I'd be fine with him. He knows how to build a team from the inside out and he knows how to game plan. Bringing him in and retaining the whole defensive staff would be a good scenario, if unlikely.

Not that complicated. You don’t sit around doing nothing when you see a guy perform worse than Shafer and almost Grob levels. I remember you calling for Shafer to be let go and somehow this is normal and okay coaching. Today was insane and we’ve seen it multiple times over the years. The defeatism that we can’t find a coach that can win at least 4-6 games a year is insane. I know it’s CNY but come on. We don’t have to settle for a coach that can’t win winnable games.

I am not saying keep him or fire him I’m just saying I’m tired of the whole process. Now with transfer rules it will be a complete rebuild for next coach. And we will play the he needs his guys angle for a couple years! If he can’t win 5-6 games this year then yeah I agree probably have to move o.

and hey I get it Dino has pretty much sucked. Just not looking forward to starting over again. I guess it can’t get much worse.

I was very leary this week. Didn’t buy the vanilla game plan one week then different the next. The offense definitely stinks right now.

Monroe has done a fantastic job recruiting our secondary. They have been one of the few bright spots. Marrone has now had his NFL head coaching gig. He may be more content coming back to Cuse which has its indoor practice facility and ACC money and making it his dream job…..too soon?

Yes for sure. He’s been good but if they land a guy like Marrone he’s gonna have a massive ego and his own guys he will be think can do better

You don't need to to tell me how it works. I said I understand how it works in my previous post. But since I'm not an athletic director and I'm just discussing sports on a fan board, I don't have those rules that I have to follow.

Having said that, although rare, you do sometimes see respected assistants retained by new coaches.

Pretty sure White's mom lives in NYC so I think there would be a great chance of him staying if a new coach wanted him. I am pretty sure I read his mom being close by was one reason for coming here.

I was probably speaking more about White. I like what he has done with the defense in a short amount of time. And really my comment was more specific to Marrone coming, also an unlikely scenario. His connections to the NFL are stronger than college. If he saw a defense that was working maybe he doesn't he decide to screw with it. Again, this is all long shot pontificating.

My bad, I think I mistook a little of what you were saying. I completely agree with you. Rebuild will definitely suck if that’s what happens. But I do think we are so bad right now, are we really that far away from a rebuild anyway. I mean, we have the players so we’re not in that type of rebuild. But we have absolutely no clue what we’re doing on the offensive side of the ball or apparently ST’s too.

So if there’s a complete turnover, in my mind we’re kind of in the same spot. Except we hopefully bring a staff in competent in all 3 phases which we don’t have now and maybe we go through some of the rebuild headaches of the new staff not liking the roster. But overall, I just don’t see any positive of the direction we’re going now. There’s so much really really bad that well overshadows any of the good from before IMO and it’s not even like we’re trending up it seems.

you can see a defensive coordinator White being retained and choosing to stay. While Babers hired him he’s not a Babers guy and smart people know who to hook their wagons to. Monroe would certainly leave. Chip west is another guy I could see being retained and staying. Marrone being an offensive guy would look closely at the success of the D. The offensive side of the ball would be totally gutted and that’s fine.
