Joe Moorhead for next HC

Jamey Chadwell would be pretty sweet

Brings such an energy. Could probably get recruits to the hill.

Doesn’t want to really coach at a factory…..

Could be a perfect love story for him and Cuse

So to be clear folks are upset that we missed out on a candidate that was so good that he went to Akron? Really?
This is my favorite. If a coach goes to a school considered higher on the pecking order, you see, we couldn't have got him. If a guy goes somewhere lower on the pecking order, you want a guy that was so good he went to Akron? Let's keep Dino forever.

If moorhead goes to akron over cuse it would only be because he’s afraid he can’t win at those places and it would destroy his chance at a high D1 job
Our job isn’t open?

He is going from OC at a P5 school to G5 HC. That’s a standard move to get HC experience

He’s a southern boy who may not be a cultural fit - but otherwise I’d be good with it

Moorhead is taking the Akron head coaching job per Thamel

The takes in this thread are great. Moorhead as OC? Yeah, he’d leave Oregon for a pay cut to stay an OC at a much worse program.

I think his move to Akron is really smart. Continue building bridges in the Midwest to eventually get a HC job in the B10.

IDK about over valued. Northeast guy and proven results, both as a HC and OC.
I know what he provides. Ive met him and sat in some of his sessions at clinics. He was good at Fordham, wouldnt mind him as a coach but some people act like he's the answer to all of SU's problems. He could be a 5 or 6 win coach at SU as well.

that would be better than Babers. I'll take a 6 win coach.

So we absolutely farm coaching from all backgrounds and experiences and have no issues with that. My question was meant to imply people were talking this guy up like he was the best thing since sliced bread and yeah he decided to jump to an Akron. That seems underwhelming given people's comments. Maybe he did it for health reasons or maybe because he did have roots there before but based on what everyone else was saying Akron is a bit of a surprise. So maybe that was also the only school that thought highly enough to offer? Don't know.

Again I dont need to be sold on him. I know his resume. I just dont think people realize how tough of a job SU is.

Yep, the job can get easier but its very difficult to crawl out of the basement. You need a lot to go your way including luck and its not an overnight thing unless we somehow land Michael Vick.

I mean if you bring in a super competent OC who also makes offensive game decisions during the ending minutes of halves, that effectively would box Dino into an executive role and maybe at this stage that’s where he belongs. He is a good face of the program from a PR perspective and he can manage the program administratively. So I guess a really competent OC as associate HC could correct the issues we have if done right.

Consider how the big boys do it; they allow the HC to replace the assistants yearly based on what aspect of their team didn’t measure up to the will of the major donor class. Take The Michigan Coach, the ND Coach and many others.

This allows greater program continuity, over time.

Sure, we don’t have that type of discretionary money; however, having the HC as the face of your program while you hire quality assistants to provide the nuts and bolts of your schemes and play calling. That is a place where HCDB could reside if he wishes to continue as our HC and isn’t too stubborn to adjust.

His best skill sets reside in that Face-of-the-program role!

I think people over value Moorhead because we are so desperate to win.

Everything looks good when what you have is bad.

We at least could have told him we brought his QB here for him.

But if he's bad, he's Akron's problem now.

I’m not saying he will be bad. I think he’s a fine coach. I’m just saying SU is a different monster. Good resumes seem to burn when they get to SU. Lol

on top of that who knows what makes Moorhead tick at this point. He had some health scares etc. Akron isn’t exactly a pressure cooker
