John Odierna hired as new DC

Not sure if this is worth posting, but a Hobart fan over at FanLax is saying that Coach O might be on his way to Stony Brook to be the head coach there. I have no idea if it’s true or not. The only thing was that in his radio interview yesterday, he did say his wife was still living on Long Island, which I thought was kind of curious.

Of course as of right now we’ve been given no indication that Stony Brook is looking for a new HC. Anyways here’s what oldbartman said:

“Odierna to be HC at Stony Brook is the rumor I'm hearing. There are some family/work issues that may pull him to LI. Though his PLL gig may throw a spanner in the works.”

Unless the family issues are the driving force, this seems like a so-so move for Coach O. Could have made the Manhattan to SB leap without the detour to Syracuse. Couple more successful years at Cuse and I’d have to imagine tier one opportunities would be in play.

SB overachieved from what was predicted as they lost a ton to graduation and the portal. Seems unlikely they are going to make a move and even if they did Odierna is likely making more at SU then he would at SB. Color me skeptical this is even remotely accurate.

I tend to agree, but never underestimate the power of wife/family.

HC money at SB I'd imagine is greater than assistant coach money at Syracuse. Gilardi makes $208k according to this.

It's also a SUNY which means state benefits and a pension. He'd be crazy not to take the job.

Odierna is being paid fairly well, he's making pretty close to that I'd bet.
