Johntay Cook Uncle Would like to have a word…

Don’t expect him to be here next year regardless. The kid is using us to fix his rep and show his talents. Based on his interviews it’s clear he doesn’t care for this area/school/program.

Based on his uncle’s comments, I’d be fine if Fran invited him to go on Monday. He’s not good enough to keep around with that, juice ain’t worth the squeeze.

Where did you hear /see the family comment on this ?

It was a tweet linked in this thread, I went back and I see the link is broken now. I just Googled it and their AI thinks the same thing but when you click the links it claims to source from the information isn't there.

Kinda looks like it was scrubbed. Not sure if that means it was him or if the family doesn't want to engage or what. I can definitely understand that.

What an absolute joke, and what a pathetic uncle. I'm uncle to a stellar D1-recruited baseball player. Currently Boston College and other schools recruiting him. I would never on God's green earth publicly call out his team or teammates in that fashion, not even privately. This is absolutely disgusting and lacked a modicum of respect for his nephew or whatever ramifications would result for him. This is what happens with NIL and these greedy kids chasing bags and not what they think is their best situation to... wait for it, make it to "the league". What a pathetic, sad excuse for an uncle.

This is a backup QB. Fran got his elite QB and as fate would have it, we lost him for the season, and this chump wants to complain about the backup? E*ffing moron. Did he think about how he could look his QB or coach in the face again? No, all he has in his head is "the league" and his stupid "5 🌟 star" BS. Incredible. If I were the host of the show I would have said, "what are your thoughts on Jhontay's two fumbles last week that were a large contributor to the loss"?

Still trying to figure out why some folks here keep dumping on johntay. It was his dumb uncle who made the comments- he shouldn't have to suffer because of an idiot relative. By all accounts he's been a good teammate since coming here.
Yup, all on the moron uncle. Imagine calling a post game talk show to btch about your nephew's quarterback lol. It's absolutely incredible it really is.

so to me, further comments on this thread rest with whether the post was real or just fake news. It’s been reported to be fake, yet many here still treat as real, or was it real and reported to be fake to save face here….this thread makes no sense if it was junk to begin with but nobody seems to really know

It didn’t sound like a prank. It sounded like the guy was 100% authentically mad, frustrated, and wanting to apply pressure for change.

It was a bad decision, possibly influenced by beer. I’m sure the caller and the whole family regrets it.

I feel bad for Rickie and Johntay neither deserves this nonsense

How is that any different than 100 posters on this board?

You're lucky. I'm on the other end. My kid is a HS sophomore starting to get looks from FBS-level schools. There are 6 or 7 kids on his team with a chance to play ball in college. The amount of family backbiting and complaining over PT and 25 other things is insane.

The coach even laid out a formal process for complaints in August. Position coach (by text) --> position coach meeting --> repeat process coordinator --> repeat process HC. I may do a PPT flow chart for next August. Or maybe not. I'm already the "not serious" dad because I do things like compliment other kids who take away PT and targets. Some of the families really need the scholie for college. You'd think they'd be the worst. Nope. The ones who have the most means complain the loudest. It's a strange world.

Somewhere way down the Cuse depth chart, there's a kid who didn't get a bag from both Texas and Syracuse just hoping for some reps and everything football teaches about life. I think of that kid too.

Because there is a shareable video clip so everyone can easily listen to the call and, more importantly, the caller identified himself as a family member who watches the practice footage.

No one share quotes from angry fans off fan boards bc no one else cares what happens here except us

Reminds me of way back when, collecting the $10 parking fee for a big annual tournament run by my kid's club team.
Never had a dad in a Taurus or similar "average" car complain.
It was dads in the high end BMW's and Mercedes who blew their gaskets!

Or they may be a starter and not so far down the depth chart. You'd be surprised. Not as many players as you think got “bags”.

Oh. Well. I stand corrected then.
