Just blow it up

I had five friends of mine text me during the game in our little group text we have. 2 were at the game, 3 were watching at home as they just got home today after being away for the holiday. All said the same thing, they will NEVER step foot in the Dome again for any sport as long as Dino is the coach.

Dino probably isn't getting fired, I (and my group of friends) get that. But SU has already run off the casual fans and now they are just running off the die-hards by sticking with Dino.

The last one out of the Dome turn off the lights.

Nice fans. I’m sure the players appreciate their support.

Not true.

This team is one or two plays away from seven wins.
No. Stop it. Just stop it. We absolutely failed to make adjustments after the bye. Put another way, we ran a gimmick, teams adjusted to it, and we failed to evolve in light of their adjustments.

Also, we can’t mathematically be one play away from 7 wins. We only won 5 games.

There’s 3 kinds of fans:

1) Casuals

2) Die-Hards who will always support their program

3) Die-Hards who want to win

This program is dangerously close to only appealing to the second group.

For the third group, the only recourse they (we, because I’ll include myself) have is to step away if the program isn’t serious about a sport they are asking us to spend time/money on.

Man, the schedule thing is a good point. We’re going to have to hear all off-season that the schedule is tougher so “really, we could win 4 or 5 games and it’d show progress!”, won’t we? Ugh.
That's... not at all the point I intended to make, but you're absolutely right we'll hear that, and I don't feel good.

Paul Pasqualoni should be brought back to consult Wildhack on what worked during his era. I know this is sacrilege but I’m 100% serious.
I'm 100% serious too and I agree. He knew the formula.

Syracuse: the program where the bar is literally just make a bowl game and we can’t even meet that extremely low bar on even a somewhat consistent basis. If a coach came here and consistently won 7-8 games, they’d be a king.
They'd build him a statue outside the Dome if he won 7-8 consistently

#3 aren’t die hards

One thing that needed to happen but didn’t was some close up sideline shots of Dino’s reaction during the game. We didn’t see any and I was curious to see his reactions.

Blaming the fans at this point, and these specific fans, who are in their mid 50's and have supported the program for decades isn't going to make things better.

This isn't the fan's fault, let's not label fans and "distract" from the real issue here. Which is the Syracuse football program and its head coach.

100% agree. Group #3 has dumped so much time and money into this program, I can't fault any of them (and I am part of that group I admit) for waving the white flag at this point. Wins-Losses matter. It may not to the school and a small minority of fans, and that's fine. But for the larger group of fans that it does, it may be time to take a break and stay away.

Speak with your wallet!

#3 aren’t die hards

I’ve been a season ticket holder for 15 years, including making the trip into Syracuse from Buffalo for every single home game the past 6 years that I’ve lived here. Honestly, at this point, the only reason I keep my season tix is for the social aspect more than the product on the field, which has been sub-par for some time now.

I thought Dino was the guy for the job, but it’s painfully obvious that he’s not, and I can’t blame some of my friends who have been season ticket holders for those 15 years right along with me that are seriously considering throwing in the towel next year.

Its pretty common for fans to speak to the program via empty seats.

You can be a die hard fan and step away until changes are made.

It’s pretty much one of the only avenues we have that they pay attention to.
The idea he wants to rip fans is a joke.

Fans are investing dollars and time. This program has 4 winning seasons in 20 years and he wants to rip fans.
Give me a break. I have had season tickets since I graduated in 2006. The tickets aren’t too expensive so I support the program but I don’t go to the games as I don’t live in Syracuse or near it and I can’t literally give away the tickets to some games.

Fans aren’t the issue. The product is.
It’s a lot of energy to going to all these games without even factoring in costs.

If the product was worth it you would get more fans devote the time and energy.
But let’s blame fans because some fans are clearly just superior and need to tell the other fans how bad they are.

Just drop the Buzz Shaw line as well.

We had him. In 14 seasons Coach P won 7 or more games in 9 of them.

Die hards are fans through thick and thin, wins or losses, regardless of the coach. People can complain about things and even call for things to be blown up like the OP Go said. But he’ll be there next year. I know a lot of people on here that complain and are fed up. But they’ll be there next year regardless. You can’t say you’re a diehard if you bail just because you don’t want the coach that’s there. You support the program and most of all the kids.

LOL. Yet you are doing exactly what I said. You complain but you still support the program.

You like to pick on low hanging fruit.
It’s what you do.
Then when you get back and forths do this.
Drop the Buzz Shaw line.

Lol. You support the program even though you aren’t happy. Case closed.

Drop the Buzz Shaw line. Every moderator but you can be ignored.
Please fix that.

And wasn’t buzz Shaw’s line “get a life”? Where’d I say that?

I know Chip Kelly isn't super loved at UCLA.

Not sure if he keeps his job, but if not, he'd be a guy to look at.
I think Chip will get another year. They finished 7-5 i think and just beat up on cross town rival USC. I threw KC Keeler out there in another thread. Guy is a legend at the fcs level, grew up in Pennsylvania and has ties to the northeast. Curt Cignetti at James Madison is another Pennsylvania homer and also has ties to the northeast. There's a ton of really good head coaches at that level who would jump at the chance to coach here.

Do all fans have to be die-hards though? Can't some people just be fans?

Honestly speaking for myself I could care less if I am labeled a "fan" instead of a "die-hard" fan by a bunch of strangers on a message board.

I know I am a "die-hard" fan due to the time and money I have invested in this program my entire life which is a while as I am old. If others don't view me as a "die-hard"...I'm not losing sleep at night.

I think the larger issue is being missed here as we go down this rabbit hole of "labels"and that is that this football program has run off the casual fans and is now running off some of the "die hard fans".....maybe not Platinum Level, first-class seating Die Hard fans. Let's just call them the "business class" level die-hard fans. lol
