Just blow it up

Re: the “couple plays form seven wins” thing how many plays away were we from losing to Liberty and Virginia Tech?
This is the dumb game that people play to convince themselves a team is better than their record. All off-season we’re going to read how Rutgers, FSU, Wake, Clemson we’re *really* wins. So we were *actually* a 9-3 team, guys!

Conveniently, people don’t include the games we easily could have lost. And it’s all a useless endeavor. Good teams win the close ones. We rarely do.

I’ll go to the Dome when I feel like it regardless of who the coach is. Hate that dramatic stuff. Sometimes going to the Dome is the best thing to do around here that weekend. Enjoy watching high level football in ideal tenperatures while cracking a few blue light cans, hearing the band, seeing campus, etc. Just enjoy the scene every now and then. We’ve sucked for much of 20 years but NOW it’s a deal breaker? Come on. We usually suck. It is what it is, who cares?

Don’t forget how all off season the players will magically improve exponentially to catch up to most of the ACC. But fail to mention you need a coaching staff that is capable of accomplishing that.

I’m tired of sucking. I’m tired of waiting to get better. I’m tired of talking about coaches who can make it better. I’m tired of watching crap predictable football. I’m tired of teams converting 3rd and long on us nearly all the time. I’m tired of personal fouls at the absolute wrong time. I’m just plain tired

It’s all about recruiting. Need to see immediate improvement in quality of recruit. Players are not waiting to be developed anymore. They simply transfer.

Yeah I'll still be here as well. I don't blame fans for not wanting to come back and most of my graduating class couldn't care less at this point, but I love football so much and I've already been thru a lot with SU football

Also, like, no else improves in college football. It’s just something magical about being within the boundaries of Onondaga County that makes players get better.

Most of our offense is back, and while our defense has some major question marks up front - our DC has proven to be capable of scrapping together at least a decent defense.

I think on paper we’re better next year than this year. Thinking 6-7 wins, personally.

I think on paper I’m a genius. I’ve personally told myself that innumerable times. I just can’t understand why nobody agrees with me.

I don’t see 7 at all, don’t even see 6 but also think that’s more realistic. I don’t see a major improvement in the oline unless we get at least someone in the portal. The line has done better against weak competition but has played like last year against average to above average competition.

Dline depth is a concern, in reality depth almost everywhere is a concern. We don’t have a consistent WR, we have guys that sporadically can make a play. We’re so bad at that position people see 1-2 good plays in a game and think there’s going to be some huge improvement next year in that group. Coaching staff hasn’t shown it can coach up WR’s, so not sure where that belief comes from. Watch any other CFB team and you can see how bad our WR’s are as well an many other positions.

People got too excited winning against some average teams, we also lost to some average - below average teams. There’s nothing DB has done with his recruits since he’s been here to believe things are turning around.

I skipped the Dome after today's tailgate and it went better then I thought it would. It's a growing trend and speaks to the product on the field or lack there of

Obviously my tailgate attendance wasn't as good as it usually is, but I don't miss the game experience a bit. Not even a little. Tailgate and then skip the Dome is totally the right move.

No. Stop it. Just stop it. We absolutely failed to make adjustments after the bye. Put another way, we ran a gimmick, teams adjusted to it, and we failed to evolve in light of their adjustments.

Also, we can’t mathematically be one play away from 7 wins. We only won 5 games.
No he’s right.

Dino rolled the dice with the qb switch and the team played at a high level but didn’t close for three games.

This last three games is a combination of multiple OL injuries, tape, and the fact that they have a TE playing QB.

At this point I really don’t care. This teams record should be one, two, maybe three wins better. That it isn’t is on the coach.

Let us know when someone says we were actually 9-3.

And yet we won 5 this year? Winning one or two more games isn’t that much of stretch to me?

Yes, we will lack depth and seemingly never have a legit good OL. I’m not expecting those things to change. But I do think Shrader should be improved in his second full year as a starter….because he has the raw tools and some of his weaknesses can be improved as he becomes a veteran starter. Dual threat QB is always the ticket to success at SU and covers for a lot of sins.

Jackson is starting to emerge at WR, and Alford would seem to be a young guy with tools who can become an impact player.

You've been telling me you're a genius since you were seventeen
In all the time I've known you I still don't know what you mean
The weekend at the college didn't turn out like you planned
The things that pass for knowledge I can't understand

This seasons record was ridiculously easy. I think people forget that. Winning 1-2 more is a stretch to me b/c the games will be tougher and DB doesn’t have a history of being competitive against decent competition (with his recruits). We also have a poor recruiting class coming in that could potentially get worse. Further impacting our depth.

GS I believe can improve but at some point he’s going to get hurt because we need him to run so much. Whether he plays hurt or is out, we saw how limited he was playing hurt and with D’s adjusting.

WR - we have 2 WR coaches and have recruited that position as much or more as any position on the team. We still, in year 6 are saying, I think so and so will be better next year. There’s no evidence to show this staff can improve WR play of their HS recruits. So maybe WR will improve, should improve a little at least but enough to win a tougher schedule next year. I don’t see it. Not based on what we’ve seen in 3-4 years. If you watch the WR play overall it’s really really bad for having 2 coaches just for that position. It’s scary bad based on that, having an offensive coaching guru and using so many scholarships for that position. Guys are still running the wrong routes, don’t do basic things like turning their heads to look for the ball, blocking is largely really bad, playcalling 2-3 WR’s to the same spot on the field.

Die Hard and Highlander were different movies. We could be down to immortals only next season. The hard to kills could be gone. You can’t expect people to survive the 23 year run we just had.

What if we’re a team that won a couple of close ones and lost 3 close ones and that means we’re like on the bad side of mediocre

There is actual context out there for this stuff and it matches what our eyeballs have seen, but this kind of “people don’t understand“ posts are weird

Who is claiming we’re good? Are people out there saying we’re the same 1-12 team from last season? No. We’re in between all that and we did what mediocre, flawed teams do. Won and lost some really close games.

Aye, the first hour after a loss I swear I’m done, but I will be back if it’s Dino , or anybody else, it’s what I do on Saturdays in the fall , as long as I am physically able .

Im ok with whoever transferring. The programs on life support and needs a new coach.
I think we need a flush again. This feels like post 2007 season. Know this isn’t working and are hanging on
