Just watched the game again

watching him on the sidelines in warm up he throws a nice tight ball as to whether that means good mechanics i dont know
He played in the game so that’s what I’ve been using as a benchmark

Typically, you can't throw a tight spiral with bad mechanics.
But, lots of guys mechanics break down when they are in game situations.
I actually thought Shrader threw pretty well for his first passes in two years. The pass to Taj that got broken up at the last instant was an absolutely beautifully thrown ball. The overthrow was a beautiful looking pass, as well, he just needed a scoche more air under it. NFL qbs make that same mistake - they get excited at how open it is and rush it.

As for whoever keeps saying he throws a duck - I don't know what they're talking about, unless that means something different nowadays. TD threw more ducks (i.e. wobbly pass that goes way off line or way short) than Shrader.
Upon rewatch for me - those two were nice throws. The others were wobbly and came from bad mechanics, IMO

I’ll rewatch again to double check. Just seemed rather blah to me.

Can you post more about the specific mechanics you feel are "truly awful." I am not trying to debate the point with you, just curious as to what you are seeing specifically.

Said it last year but we’ve got 79 wideouts on the roster yet… what are they doing all game? Nothing? Special teams? Just sitting there? Taj is a gamer who can fight for yardage. Unfortunately struggles with drops and the emotions run too far on the negative side of the spectrum, at times. Absolutely a wideout we should be involving frequently but if he’s the number 1, you need a lot more at 2-5.

let’s see if anyone can step up as the season moves on.

The young WR's must really have issues learning the playbook or are really underperforming because its amazing that they haven't been able to supplant the starters besides Taj. Play Gadsen and anyone else Sat and let's see what happens.

What playbook? Run a fly route? Or run an out? Not like we run crossing routes over the middle and combo routes or anything

1 pass to Benson (they should be throwing to him all day IMO), zero passes to Queeley, most to Taj (8) and a couple each to Jackson and Johnson. Johnson looks better. Jackson looks pretty good to me - sweet catch on the slant. But why not give some frosh a chance once we get across the 50 - Hatcher? Williams? And Gadsen as you mention. I think it's coaching ... OC/ and Samuel for WR's. Same problem with O-Line that we rectified.

Did you watch the game?

Seriously, because if did you would seen all of that.

They are running actual plays.

Zero passes to Queeley? He caught a pass off of play action first play of the game. He had as many, if not more targets than Harris.

‘it’s game two. Alford was in, sprung Jackson on the bubble for six or seven.

that being said I’d play Alford, Gadsden, and Harris with CJ as the 4th WR

I will on rewatch.

From memory, it seemed his feet were never right, even when he had time. He's got a big looping wind up and slow release, kind of awkward. Might be his size too. Not compact.

This is a god-damned joke after 2 games. 19 COMPLETED passes.

Why can't we have nice things?

when you run 62 plays that’s what you get 19 of 32 is not awful

What I’m in on is not ignoring the fact that he played at a very high level before the 4th quarter. 11/15 with three drops and one sack if that in one half is excellent. You do that for sixty minutes you are going to win a lot of games.

The 4th was badly handled by everyone.
It's hard for me to accept a grade of "high level" when we scored 7 points in 3 quarters. I'm not saying it's all on TD, but the guy is the most important player on the O by a country mile... and we scored 7 points.

To put meat on that bone, I believe TD had 6 drives in the first 3 quarters...

1st drive ended in an intentional grounding and an incompletion.
2nd drive was the fumble by Lutz.
3rd drive stalled out when TD completed a 5 yard pass on a 3rd and 15.
4th drive was a 3-and-out when TD completed a 7 yard pass on a 3rd and 10.
5th drive was the touchdown.
6th drive was a 3-and-out.

Six drives, one score, two 3-and-outs, one decent drive that stalled on an incompletion, one 5-play drive that ended on an incompletion. Two of six were good, the other 4 were some variation of meh-to-bad.

I just don't see how that's good enough, let alone "high level".

That’s wrong.

Queeley makes the catch on the first play of the game.
I added the play-by-play, which indicates the first pass of the game was caught by Taj. Maybe they got it wrong. But that's what it says in two separate places in the box score, per my post.

All the QBs who played that Sat had negative EPA (expected points added). That’s awful.

DeVito had a good 1st half, but his 4th Q made him the worst QB on the day.

Shrader had the best EPA (again, negative on the whole) in his limited action.

I was pretty sure it was Queeley too. But ever play by play I can find says otherwise.
