Kadary “Swiss Army Knife” Richmond...

I was one of those who cautioned that “he doesn’t play defense”, having watched Kadary in person last season at Brewster. I’m so glad to eat crow, he’s already shown himself to be a stud at the top of the zone! His instincts for tips/blocks, coupled with his capacity to come down and grab rebounds is so impressive.

I think the thing I like the most about Kadary’s game is that he is a north / south player. And he doesn’t seem to need to spend much time over-dribbling the ball in order to penetrate. I love what he brings on defense too. I feel confident in his ability to make a positive play happen.

Even if Andre transfers he wouldn’t even play here next year lol. Q, Griffin, Woody and Benny all at the 3/4.

If Andre was here we’d see less of Q/Griff and more of Joe... man what a break we caught. Thanks Hurley!

ironically, UConn could use Kadary more than Andre. He’d be their best PG already and is a way better defender than Cole/Gaffney

Agree, was not implying he would be welcome here. He had his chance and now has to pay the price for a bad decision.

this whole current rage among a faction of posters - viewing various players as competitors with one another rather than teammates competing together - is disturbing
It’s pretty pathetic by some of them. The good thing is the team seems to get along great and chemistry is high. His comment is just so pathetic. Joe was a huge reason we won the last game and he’ll be one of the reasons we win future games. If you wear Cuse across your chest I root for you, end of story.

“I completely disagree. I said at the time - and was heavily criticized for it then as I will be now - that Nichols was the best player on the team Gerry's senior year. I think one of the greatest failings of JB as a coach was his unwillingness to acknowledge Gerry's limitations and trying to make him the focus of that offense. The reason that team was sub-.500 in conference play for the first time in 25 years amd was NIT bound before the BET miracle is that JB subjugated the superior talents of Nichols (and probably Devo, as well) to his surrogate son. That team had the talent to be much better than they were, IMO.“

is this disturbing?

Not really. Pearls handle was as good as anyone who has ever played the game. Im not sure who Kadary reminds me of. Kid is smooth as silk. As his shot improves he is going to become a force.
Pearl did that before the loose rules on dribbling of today. If Pearl could have palmed and carried like today, no one could have guarded him, ever.

Watching him was magic. He would actually be smiling as he weaved through an entire D. Having had the pleasure to watch Sweet D, Bug, Johnny, Sherm, Pearl which i consider the A list of great SU Guard's as well as other greats like Gmac, Adrian, MCW, Gib, Ennis, Marty, Sims and soon to be Kadary i only wish i could have seen Dave play in person. Still out of this group nobody was close to Pearl. He was in a league of his own.
When you are so good you become known by one name. Not two. ONE
Kobe, Magic, Melo, Shack, Tiger, Jack, Pele,
Pearl. Legend.

Best off-hand, left hand dribble I've ever seen. Its always especially hard for defenders who are used to playing against guys using their right hand, let alone someone who was basically ambidextrous and could shift left or right on a dime. Pearl had guys spinning around trying to guess which way he was going. Unreal.

What a gift being able to watch him play. In person the only other players i saw either playing for or against SU that were generational talents were

Dr. J. Im not sure how many he had but he was spectacular. Also he wasn't allowed to Dunk. It was the single best performance i ever saw
Calvin Murphy. Same i think he had 60 points. Crazy good. Johnny Flynn on steroids good.
Magic. Only losing player and i believe freshman to be named MVP of the Carrier Classic. Blew everyone away.
As to SU guys. Billy O, DC, and Melo.

Fair. Didn’t see that. I think going forward JG is still going to start but KR will come in and play more mins overall.
I agree but why? Joe's not a senior. He's a guy who stepped up and did an admirable job as a freshman when he was not expected to play much. It needs to be Kadary's team. Joe will continue to be a big contributor.

Pearl. That’s kinda what his game reminds me of.

Blasphemy I know. But kinda accurate right?
He kinda reminds me of a player that broke our heart in a tournament championship game one year long a go...Paul Pressey.

I’ve always been partial to point-guards since I played the point back in the day, and it was my Dad’s fav position.
When I first saw Pearl he bought back memories of my fav player growing up: Nate “Tiny” Archibald, and I’m talking the vintage version when he played with the old Kansas-City Omaha Kings. I believe in 1973(?), he was MVP and the first player, maybe still only player, to lead the association in scoring and assists!
I saw him live at MSG that year, & even though i was a Knick fan, Tiny was unstoppable! My Dad was in my ear the whole time pointing out how he was controlling the game from the 1 spot.
Pearl’s handle was the best I’d seen since Archibald.
