Kiyan Anthony DNP vs Virginia

Freshmen all over the nation are dominating the game. Many physically look like freshmen. Why aren’t ours?

That's somewhat of a flawed statement.. You need to compare them (White and Anthony) to their proper peers, not top 5 or top 10 freshman entering the season - yes those top 10 as a group are dominating this year more than in recent years.

White was #28 and Anthony was #36 per ESPN Rankings. Here is the players from #26-#40 ranked by PPG. The high is 14 points per game across the 15 players.. #26-#40 ranked players are averaging 7.8 ppg (or about 8.5 ppg if I exclude the player that has not played all year). They are generally performing in that range.

Henderson - 14.3
Mingo - 13.7
Adams - 11.8
Lewis - 11.8
Sylla - 9.6
Anthony - 8.9
Moreno - 8.3
Abaev - 8.0
Fogle - 7.5
Toombs - 7.2
White - 6.0
Aristode - 4.8
Magwood - 3.0
Bundalo - 0.3
Lloyd - 0

What’s the efficiency on the other freshmen?

And I don't want to say that Melo can do no wrong but Melo sacrificed his personal finances to build us the Melo Center and he trusted his son and legacy to us. He's done something nobody else in program history has done and that's still not enough for him to get the benefit of the doubt from our "fans." Just a baffling lack of acknowledgement and respect for the resources and relationships needed to build the program back.
Wait, what?
When I gave to SU, it was a tax writeoff.

Upon retirement, he had earned $410m in salary and endorsements. Carmelo Anthony Retires With $410 Million in Career Earnings
Carmelo earned $262.5 million from his NBA salary alone.

This is prior to the private equity fund he invested in.

And related to the Anthony Center, it was $19 million to build, but not all of that came from him:
"Anthony was ranked #8 on 'The Giving Back 30 List of Largest Charitable Donations by Celebrities in 2006' list for contributions totaling $4,282,000."

You sound like that guy that likes to remind everyone when the lottery gets really big that you still have to pay taxes on it.

It’s good for us that want a change. National pressure and coverage will make the decision even more obvious.
Oh I agree, and we 100% need a change (I'm an advocate for firing Red mid season). I just meant that the perception of us as a program continues to go lower than I ever thought possible

Hopefully it’s not Carmelo saying Red, we are out of here after this year. And Red reacting by not playing him.

Just speculating.

I have a hard time believing Red’s benching of Kiyan is because of Melo’s tweet. I’m guessing Kiyan did something bad this week and got benched for it.
I haven’t been substantially invested in SU hoops news in the past couple of weeks, but was there another tweet by Carmelo other than the “SMFH” thing after Carolina?

It would be hard to imagine Red would ‘bench’ Kiyan as a petty reaction to just that. I agree–surely there had to be more from Kiyan himself.

If the kid played so much up to now, it was because Red thought Kiyan could help us win games. What could have happened for Red to think that’s no longer true or that he had been wrong all along? Unlikely this DNF was just an incidental aberration. Kiyan looked ‘disengaged’ on the bench… if “body language” is a thing.

Either way, the level of dysfunction in this program is at a disturbingly epic level. I’m kinda disgusted. Losing games is one thing. This goes beyond.

I really hope you're right... If this is a retaliatory benching because of melo's post, then Englested has to be given the reigns now to see out season.

A lot of people here have been wanting Kiyan not to play or at least play very minimal.
This team isn’t going anywhere not playing the kid hurts him in the future. If red was a real coach he would be playing him and sitting him down when he makes a mistake so he can learn. Just another reason why red needs to be fired now. Completely inept

Not sure. Has Luke's dad led us to a National Championship and donated a practice facility?
My point is that Carmelo has been in the public eye for a long time and he should know that making any negative comments about the state of the team and or the coaching would be magnified due to his stature. This does not help out Autry or the team in any way. The basketball program is bigger than any one player or his son.

He could be a LOT worse. He made a four letter acronym post when everyone else on the planet was thinking the same thing.

I feel like we’re the Ny Giants or a hundred other pro teams through the years talking about what QB we’re going to sit or play to close out a terrible season. It just doesn’t matter people.

It’s time to clean house and I have no doubt the house will be cleaned.

Be better.

It was a post with substance, backed with factual information. Debate the premise, versus making it/taking a personal shot, especially at someone it ‘sounds like’ you don’t know personally.

You still managed to get a couple of likes (unsurprisingly) though to add to your trophy shelf. Good for you!
