Kyle Cuffe Transferring to Syracuse (5/18/23)

Admittedly haven't read all the responses but I am a little concerned about the roster going into 24/25. 12 scholarships (13 w Mintz) but with only 3 Jr's and no Sr's going into 23/24. I thought there was 1 kid committed for 2024. Therefore, that means no room to recruit for the 24 class. The center spot could use some upgrading , does that mean more portal shopping next spring? Hate to have to rely on kids leaving to bring in kids and hope u can upgrade at the same time.

If Mintz is back, it would only be for next year.
As I look at the roster, I see 3 or 4 guys who might logically move on, especially in this age of the Portal and NIL. We currently have 2 commitments for next year, and easily could take 2 more.

The lack of a bruiser is what is holding me back. It just seems like whenever I watch the sweet 16 and beyond, these teams have a bunch of 6'7 to 6'9 230-240 types. And, I feel like SU is at its best when it has that physical presence, that DC, Otis Hill, Rick Jackson, or AO, or whatever.

I guess these types must be a rare commodity, but it would be awesome to land one.
Doesn’t Brown fit that mold. Believe he came in 6’9 220. Feel he will bigger and stronger this season.
When I first watched his game he reminded me of the players pit use to get that would just kill us on the boards.

I went on the ku board… most of them thought hed transfer to low D1 or D2. There were a few who said Kansas would wish he had stayed in a “few” years.

And the basis for that is conjecture and fansplaining away a player that decided to leave. Its one thing with like Symir. It's another with a kid who they haven't seen play at this level. Which is why I said what I said in my comment about their board after chatting with my old neighbor.

We had our fair share of similar sentiments with BJ Johnson too... and that's with seeing him play a lot more than they did Cuffe.

Reading their board on Cuffe is useless.

If you are saying I shouldnt trust a random internet forum full of a bunch of nut bags, you’d be correct.

No.

You caught my irony!

Sure albeit not as clever when it's tossing passive aggressive shade at someone for sharing a conversation... but I'll let it slide as light hearted ;)

No shade intended

What they're saying in Kansas City about the move including comments from Bill Self:

Good stuff. It's nice to get a kid like this with meat on the bone years wise. It's clear Kansas has time invested into him and he is likely the better for it. 4 years we put into Jesse and got most of that potential out while on campus but WVU gets his final year. Nice to benefit from someone else's investment and hard work with Kyle.

Does anyone know what the staff thinks of Cuffe's ability to contribute right away, and whether they're hoping he'll be able to play decent minutes his first year here?

He said in a recent interview that he's been back on the court for 2 months now, and that he feels good, feels back to normal. Probably needs a few months to shake off the rust, and get the last few inches of his vertical back, but basically he was very positive.

Kyle is already in the Cuse and hoopin'...

Dejuan Blair. I feel like they persistently rolled those types out and would beat up our forwards like old big east. Refs would swallow their whistles, especially if the game was @ Pitt.

As much as I used to get pissed at the no whistle, I miss it dearly in todays game, given the shift from inside-out gameplay to outside-in.

Summer Sessions at Cuse were the best, 1 class or so, a little bit of a job, and a lot of partying.
