Kyle McCord to NFL Draft

Maybe Kyle did Fran and us fans one last favor earlier this week. Too many people were positive the waiver was approved and then the nil wheels were turning for it to be all fake.

Im thinking that maybe Kyle saying if I come back that NIL money better be ready with the money was no matter what going to be a win for Fran. From what everyone said here the NIL was ready and it was competitive.

I hope Fran can tap that same money that would’ve been spent on Kyle to go get another portal QB or other impact players that he thinks he needs.

Sure its a little of bit of a bait and switch for the big donors but whatever. If by Kyle saying he was weighing his options and that got people to give an extra million or 2 in NIL to the program that still is a win For us peasants on this board.
I'd also be a little surprised if we used money earmarked for Kyle on players in this portal. Maybe shaving off a little bit to close a few guys who are already targets, but guessing it'll be more of a "save it for next year's portal and the '26 recruiting class"

really rough. This off season has been rough for us. No one wants to hear that but so far, that is the truth. 247 has our recruiting class in the 50's. A drop from the year before. Our portal guys have been a disappointment. At least to me. And now, we have had OG, Allen both leave with a year remaining (don't blame them but if they came back, would have been wonderful) and now McCord. With our schedule, if we can get 6 wins, and have a lot returning the following year, call that a win.
I just can't be negative given where the program was pre-Fran. Fran will find a way to keep us competitive and position us well for the future, even if next year is a step back in terms of wins.

As much as we know Fran will want to compete next year, you're right. Save the $ and try to load up for 2026.

This is definitely the correct decision for Kyle regardless of how we felt as fans. He's the best passer in this draft class and I don't think it's particularly close
Yeah he definitely has the makings of being one of those risers in the draft process also. Between OSU and Syracuse he was what 22 wins and 4 losses? Led nation in passing. Can throw all the passes needed. A very catchable ball. Seems durable, didn't miss games, excellent field general. He is the guy who sneaks up the draft the more they see his tape.

From all the info from "inside" sources or those with connections, i'm reading the situation with the NCAA as this: I'm thinking SU worked positively with the NCAA and they didn't officially give him a 5th year but would have had he decided on it. For them to give it to him makes more problems for them and they would rather not grant it to him officially if he isn't going to use it. So i'm going with he would have had it if he wanted it.

Yea makes sense. Easy to forget that the CFP is still going and there’s a whole other transfer window in the spring.

I trust Fran and nixon to figure out if they have their guy or need to get another guy. The offense I think will be a lot more balanced next year.

I'm not gloating at all.

At the beginning, I was hearing he wasn't coming back because he wasn't eligible to. The waiver was denied and the appeal was pretty baseless. So that was the information I chose to pass along.

Obviously things changed, but the information was also that there was a good chance in a weak draft class that he would still declare for the draft.

Say what you want to say but I was attacked for just passing along what I heard, told I "ruin everything" when it was simply setting the expectation to not expect much in this scenario. I'm not going to just fuel the fire and the whispers when there's contrasting information out there.
Drop the mysterious portal qb name if you still want to be our mysterious insider. If not, we will anoint the Dan Mullen was on campus people back! :)

Everyone Collins isn't a dual threat QB he profiles as a pocket passer just as an FYI for everyone saying they are excited to move to a dual threat.

I'm looking at a HS scouting report. I can't figure out why Collins is not considered more mobile:
  • "Good athleticism in the pocket"
  • "Above average mobility"
  • "Quick twitch and flexibility to avoid pressure"
  • "Flashes good foot quickness"
I'm not doubting you. It just seems like he has the tools to be dual threat (unless the scouting report is 100% wrong, LOL)

He mentioned in another thread it was supposed to be this Bama kid but he never entered the portal

Coming out of high school he was the 10th ranked pocket passer recruit in the nation.

Don't even want to be an "insider". I like passing on what I hear for the discussion. We're all SU fans here. But when it's something people don't like it gets questioned and that's when it gets annoying.
Nah I get it. Think some were just having a little fun with it.

I never actually thought he was coming back and it was pure hopium. This draft class is weak, we’ve lost OG, Meeks, Allen among others… there was little to no chance logically. Even with McCord next years schedule is daunting… now even moreso.
