We could have been better than 10-3 this year. The ceiling doesn't exist in the new landscape. Just have to get a bit lucky in the portal and with your HS recruits.yep sad not mad. Makes complete sense for the kid.
For us, yeah, sad. Keeping him would've brought in more top flight kids we may not have otherwise got, and kept the (likely) illusion we could compete at the highest level. I say "likely" because if and unless they make huge wholesale changes to the current system as is and reign in the wild wild west of what it is now, I fear 10-3 is the ceiling for Syracuse due to lack of competitive resources ($$$$!). And if that's true, this great coach once his young enthusiasm wears off to reality, he'll bolt to somewhere he can achieve that NC hope and goal.
That's my depressed glass half empty take now that Kyle is gone, the euphoria of the bowl and seasons done, tune in next week when I put back on my orange blinders to get back to my glass half full to continue to try and delude myself that the skys the limit!
or as I said to my friend who's closing the best restuarant in the state and maybe country after 50 years (the Inn Between..."You have some nerve going off to enjoy the rest of your life!"It’s just selfish, he’s doing what’s best for him instead of what’s best for me.
I mean yes Milroe has higher upside if he magically become a good QB. Physical traits wise he is enourmous, fast and has a strong arm. He is by bar the largest risk QB up there and it will take him a while before he could possibly start in the NFL if he does develop. I'd never draft him "at QB" with a high draft pick. too much risk. When that NFL expert came on the Syracuse radio program a few months ago to discuss McCord, I was really surprised to hear him indicate that Kyle was behind Milroe, and seeing him insist that Milroe had a higher ceiling due to arm strength.
Milroe was a middling starter for Alabama Saban's last year, and while better this season, led them to a disappointing season overall [by their standards].
He seems like a dime-a-dozen college QB, with no discernible NFL skills that translate. At least, to my uneducated eyes.
It's Rickie's job to lose but Carney is held in high regard and could challenge/win it as a true fresh. Staff is very high on him and his leadership capabilities in addition to all the physical tools.Next man up:
Glad Carney / Collins will be here to participate in spring ball. Going to be an interesting off-season in the QB room.
- Williams?
- Carney?
- Collins?
- Portal QB?
So long as he goes to the Giants, I can forgive his selfishness. It’s just selfish, he’s doing what’s best for him instead of what’s best for me.
He said that but he's not going to turn down the job if he wins it.Carney is a non factor
He enrolled early and committed knowing he was going to redshirt his first year.
I'm not gloating at all.dude don't gloat, part of your take was that he would'nt even have the chance to come back. He did. He could've.
Yes I think Kyle made the right move. His NFL draft stock would not be any higher next year. I think he will be a top five QB drafted. I’m going with Rickie Collins at QB next yearOkay, I'd like to get the board's thoughts for an article (not quoting anyone directly). Did Kyle make the right move in heading to the 2025 NFL Draft, and by extension, who do you think will be Syracuse's starting QB next season?
Yes. And you can use my name… OburgOrangeOkay, I'd like to get the board's thoughts for an article (not quoting anyone directly). Did Kyle make the right move in heading to the 2025 NFL Draft, and by extension, who do you think will be Syracuse's starting QB next season?
BruhI will cease my search for the potato chips then.
Dead to me.
Agreed. I know what Carney said in his interview. He is not expecting to be QB1 this year and I don't think the staff is expecting him to be either. But i'm damn sure he'll try his best to be and its possible. Probably not likely though. I really think he'll be great sometime soon though. Have no idea how most of the sites can rank him so low no matter what the competition is. I understand concerns of facing lower competition more at other positions, but at QB in each play you see what space he has in his windows, how much rush he has in his face, where he places the ball, all his mechanics and his timing. He looks physically gifted and composed. Super excited to be bringing him in!Don't count out Carney as a true frosh. He's enrolling early. Staff is VERY high on him.
Yes, if the pros are telling him he will be drafted in the first two rounds, probably even the third round. If the pros are telling him the fourth round or beyond, he should come back and climb the draft ladder.Okay, I'd like to get the board's thoughts for an article (not quoting anyone directly). 100% made the right decision. Another vote for Collins starting next seasonOkay, I'd like to get the board's thoughts for an article (not quoting anyone directly). He made the right decision. IMO a very weak QB class in this year’s draft. I don’t think he’d improve his draft position measurably by staying one more year. Collins I would say is positioned to start.Okay, I'd like to get the board's thoughts for an article (not quoting anyone directly). Sounds like Williams is less likely the guy but stranger things have happened.
