Kyle McCord to NFL Draft

You truly love him and don't think he gets the respect he deserves, but you refer to him in a way that Ohio State fans do to kind of make fun of him.
He might not have known what it meant. When I first heard the term I thought it was a term of endearment, like he is reliable. Hondas are good cars so it's kind of confusing.

I think this was the right call for Kyle.

He’s going to wow teams in pre-draft meetings and in white board sessions, and while I think he has more than enough arm strength for the NFL, I think his lack of elite arm strength and freakish measurables will keep him from going in the 1st.

I expect him to be a 3rd or 4th round pick for a team who has invested draft capital and/ or money in a QB, but might not be loving their investment (Saints, Dolphins, Browns, Jags), or a competing team with an aging vet (Rams, Lions).

After doing some digging, it looks like at least 20 QBs drafted in the 3rd round or later started at least one game in the NFL this year (a couple teams did the heavy lifting here - Raiders had three of them!).

Now most regular starters were 1st round picks, but the point is the guy is going to eventually get his shot in a meaningful game.

Kyle is a quick trigger, quick processing gamer who throws guys open - qualities that become much more apparent in a meaningful game.

I will watch his career with great interest.

I think he made the right decision. He is certainly going out on a high. As far as next season, I'll go Rickie Collins. I don't expect him to be Kyle, but don't think Fran and Jeff Nixon would bring in a transfer that they didn't see something they really liked.
But is he DART enough? Asking for a friend.

I was thinking about this today and I was trying to mentally find a fit for Kyle amongst the NFL teams and for some reason my brain has attached itself to the Steelers, because I feel like he has the qualities that Tomlin appreciates. I feel Fields is done in Pittsburgh. Couple that with their lack of exciting QB play, and the fact they won’t be in position for a top QB prospect, that makes them feel like a team that will invest a middle round pick in a QB this year to sit behind Wilson and go from there.

It feels like a very logical fit for Kyle with a chance to sit and learn and in the not so distant term compete for a spot.

Now that I’ve said that, he will get drafted somewhere that my brain would feel is completely illogical like the Cardinals who have a young entrenched starter who is extremely mobile and somewhat the exact opposite player Kyle is.

Anyone remember Kyle’s first few passes in Orange? It’s worth a rewatch just for laughs against Ohio.

Our first possession he had two pretty bad passes then punted. We were down 6-0. I remember telling people this might be a long season.

Then the next 3 drives Kyle took us 75 yards next 3 possessions for 3 scores. Rest of the season was history.
That’s a bit of revisionist history let’s not pretend like he didn’t have a handful of balls that should’ve been intercepted in most games this year. Agree he got better and better as the year went on though

Bump, I’d like some hand up accountability from 3-4 ppl in here that told us the waiver was approved
This is how you chase information off the board. First, you're never going to get clarification one way or another if it was approved, because Kyle decided to go pro anyways. Why would he say "the waiver was approved but I still wanted to go to the league"? It serves him no benefit.

Those 3-4 posters may be right, and Kyle made his decision. Let it be.

I truly love Kyle and think he doesn’t get the respect he deserves, but you’d have to be crazy to think giants fans are looking to follow up Daniel Jones with Honda McCord
Lol ok.

I found it bizarre the obsession OSU fans had with McCord all year. It’s like they were waiting to drag out the dumb (and super un creative) Honda McCord thing.

Hope ND pummels them.

Even if it was PROVEN that the appeal was denied what is the point of biting the hand that feeds?

Or 5 years from now a Big 10 legend once SU joins
The way things are going with the house case, and with states starting to pass rules to protect their schools. The networks and Conferences may be forced to consolidate into 4 Conferences of 18 . 8 divisions of 9 teams each along regional lines or face lawsuits from most of the 50 states.
They could tie the Conferences up in court for 20 years and receive huge damages.
That is something the networks would avoid at all costs.
Because if it goes to court Congress woul d get involved and many people would end up in trouble.
Too many people have been involved in these decisions over the years, and someone would end up incriminating others.

Clown post, bro.

It’s sad that people feel the need to make this kind of post. We have some people here in the know and, personally, I’m grateful they share nuggets with us on what’s going on behind the scenes. But I also know that information can be fluid and change at any moment. Frankly, that’s common sense.

In this case, who cares about the waiver anymore? It’s irrelevant. Kyle is going pro. I have no doubts that it appeared promising at times he’d get the appeal granted which folks shared with us, but if he received the feedback he was hoping for about his NFL draft stock, that ended up trumping any waiver outcome.

McCord was around #9 on lists when I was checking in early October. Then he completely disappeared on several lists -I’ll say “after Pitt” but I didn’t check until after Miami and couldn’t figure out why he was gone. Now he’s back on lists…right where he slotted in October and behind the same cast of characters. Weird.

Agents trying to get buzz for their guys to see if it was worth them coming out, probably.

Wouldn’t bet against my Dolphins taking a shot with him. The Tua offense that puts a premium on pre-snap reads, quick releases and timing would suit him well.
And he’s one sack away from being done.

Suck a ……
I don’t understand how everyone is just “let’s move on” after all these ppl came in here and got our hopes up just for reporters to now be saying the school hasn’t gotten word back on the waiver. Just trying to figure out the truth
