Kyle McCord to NFL Draft

It’s a giant conspiracy!

Ultimately, who cares? I don’t see why people get so upset about this stuff. Not saying Cuseblood44 is or anyone in particular but man some people on twitter had pitch forks out for “insiders”.

The past few weeks or so were fun. Speculation. Gossip. Rumors. Insiders. Spending too much company time refreshing to see if there was any news. Murder. Betrayal. We laughed. We cried. It was fun. It’s a game. It’s suppose to be fun. Few hours a week we don’t have to be stressed about real life stuff and can be stressed about this stuff, is awesome.

Kyle is gonna go crush in the NFL and we get to hear him say “University of Syracuse” when his big head pops up in the screen as they’re announcing the starting offenses on Sundays. It was a fun ride.

Nah, son … pretty sure we won’t. He‘ll say Syracuse University ;)

Wouldn’t bet against my Dolphins taking a shot with him. The Tua offense that puts a premium on pre-snap reads, quick releases and timing would suit him well.
From your fingertips to Marino’s…Gods** ears

I don’t understand how everyone is just “let’s move on” after all these ppl came in here and got our hopes up just for reporters to now be saying the school hasn’t gotten word back on the waiver. Just trying to figure out the truth
They may have had the inside scoop, which you're comparing to official statements. Which is of course two very different things.

Or maybe they heard incorrect intel from what they believed to be very solid sources. Either way they shared something with us, benevolently. Why be angry with them? That just chases away future intel.

I highly doubt people are making things up here; we're all super active on this forum and care about our reputations on it.

People here do the best they can with the info they have and are willing to share.

I mean, this is an internet message board and you're getting info that might be almost certain, but not certain... or subject to change. Or misinterpreted along the way in a game of phone tag.

Just go with it. No one is operating out of malevolence. I'd really allow it to roll off your shoulders.

If Bo Nix was a first, Kyle can be a first
That's along my general line of thinking. Teams will want QBs early and one or two of them will be surprising to people.

His performance was under-looked nationally this season but won't be by the NFL. My eyes tell me that his arm will test very well in workouts. I have no reason to think he will do anything besides totally crushing interviews. I'm obviously very biased but I think he is a very live draft riser if you look at it objectively.

Well put, I probably would have just said "Shut up and go away".

Yeah, the top two are Cam Ward and Shaddeur Sanders? I am biased, but I would trust Kyle McCord to run my offense before I would trust either of those knuckleheads, talented as they may be. Obviously Kyle won't be the first QB taken, but to think he can't move up to number 3 and be a first rounder isn't crazy.

I get what you’re saying to some degree. But I’ve been on this board and the previous version for a long time, for me and my age lol. MANY legit insiders have been run off because info was incorrect, slightly incorrect, didn’t happen, etc. It happens. Even people directly saying they're going to do something, then change their minds. So to expect that people who’ve heard info, that info will always be right is just not realistic. But when it’s not, people crap on them despite the fact that a majority of the time their info does prove to be true vs the times it doesn’t materialize.

When I first joined the board there was inside info all the time and it made the board really fun to pay attention to. Now there’s almost none of that and the few times we do get thrown a bone someone comes along and kicks that bone at the detriment to the rest of us.

The ones that provided that information have always had solid sources and almost always comes true. Just leave it at that.

Sanders is overrated, a good option but probably down a couple picks from the top. Just another opinion.

In my view Ward is behind McCord. His performance is of one good year with a very good to great supporting cast. He had every advantage. McCord had similar circumstances in 2023 and was given the boot, he improved his performance without the great defense of tOSU and the bigger lines of either tOSU or Miami. In short, McCord has faced good times and bad times, made the most of both and is tried and true, Ward would be my second choice. Sanders may be my third choice.

And to be fair, most of the insiders were saying “he’s not coming back”

But there was a small segment that said they just “felt” like he was coming back.

The vibes were high and people with inside info went and did some more digging and found out that after the waiver was denied, that an appeal was put in.

Anything after that was a guessing game because it really came down to how Kyle felt and what Kyle wanted to do.

Ultimately, I think even if that appeal had gotten approved, Kyle would have elected to go to the Draft.

Coming back a 2nd year was always a safety net idea for him.

I think we need to be careful calling people out because insiders were saying Kyle was gone the whole time

For sure if enough organizations are impressed and want him, he will rise up the draft board significantly. He was a perplexing character in College Football. An 11-1 starter who succeeded a generational talent at QB in CJ Stroud. The loss was at the Big House against an all time Michigan team. This was also Michigan 3rd straight win against OSU. McCord was judged with a double standard because of the circumstances that led to this loss. Transfers to Syracuse of all places to join forces with a first time head coach who’s previous stop was as DB coach albeit at Georgia, but still this is perplexing to the average fan who don’t know the history of the relationship. Has a legendary year as Syracuse QB this season. Just as he is repairing his reputation we had the Pitt game on a Thursday night stand alone game. It was not a good night for him, but the stats greatly exaggerate what happened that night. We were outschemed and outcoached to start the game. We played McCord longer simply to let him work through that tough night knowing that we had plenty of more season left after that night. The point of all of this is when you take a step back and realize the double standard that has been put on McCord which probably has made him stronger tbh. You realize that this guy is a great QB with very few flaws. But most importantly he has got to be one of the most resilient prospect the NFL draft has ever seen. This isn’t exactly an underdog story of a player that rose up the ranks. It’s quite the opposite.

yep this isn't rocket science. Dude got info that may or may not be legit that his draft stock is potentially trending higher and no longer 3-5th round. Then it becomes a no brainer to go if that is true. Emphasize IF that is true. Regardless He's willing to bet on himself to make that become a reality. God bless him, go for it.

Ward and Sanders have lower floors but higher ceilings, and are likely to get drafted higher than McCord as a result. A team is probably going to look at McCord as a reliable backup they can count on if and when the starter gets injured, and if he turns out to be more than that its gravy. It'll incredibly difficult for him to move up to the first round, in part because of that narrative - even if a team likes him they'll be confident he'll be there in the 2nd round.

If I had to put money on which round he goes in (as of 1/14/25) - I'd bet 3rd, but wouldn't be shocked if it was as low as 5th round or as early as mid-to-late 2nd Round. I would be astonished if he rises up to the 1st round; part of that pick is being able to sell the pick to your fan base and there is a huge built-in narrative that is an obstacle.

I think GM’s biggest concern with McCord is his interceptions. He ended up with 12, but he could have had nearly twenty. UNLV had two right in the defensive hands and they dropped them. In the WSU game he threw a ball right in the hands of a linebacker. He had several others during the year too. He also had a couple at the end of halves that were just hail Mary’s. I think he throws a great ball and can fit balls into tight windows which is what’s needed in the NFL.
