Kyle McCord to NFL Draft

They don’t deviate from their rules? There are guys playing 7, 8 or even 9 years.

And all of those fall within the rules. They will give extra eligibility based on certain circumstances. There needs to be a reason that fits into their rules. We have had kids denied extra eligibility recently who applied due to injury because it didn't fit into their definition.

Nothing about Kyle's situation falls within that. If they approve Kyle then they will approve everyone. Which might happen with 5 to play 5. His class would be the first to go back to 4 since they expanded to 5 in 2020. But that has nothing to do with Kyle's individual situation and instead the entire system. There is nothing about his situation that even deserves a look.

BTW that game in question he entered with 5:40 in the 3rd Q during game #11. It wasn't like he came in to take a knee during the final game.

If someone threatens to sue the NCAA would fold like an accordion.

Agree. It was nice having a QB that threw an incredibly catchable ball and for that we may be a bit spoiled but your point remains, the staff will find a guy that works to help this team win games.
how many games did McCord win us? (above replacement)
3? 4?

Fran has a way with words. His comments about Kyle during his bowl presser were very strategically worded. I think there’s smoke here and we are waiting to see how big the flames are.
Well, there is little doubt that we have indeed asked for a waiver. As I said earlier, someone that we all know was told by someone at the University that they expect to win. That someone who said that was not Fran Brown. I have no reason to think that is correct and could think of no rational where it could be. But damn, someone here did just make a pretty good case for a waiver. I still don't believe it. But it is interesting.

What we really need is some of our posters to boldly declare that he is NOT getting another year…. then I’ll start to believe !

What is the rationale? If he appeals he needs something to base it on. He wasn't hurt. He played in 5 games. So besides the NCAA just feeling like being nice, there isn't anything to really go on.

His ex coach is a douchebag?

Other than, I’ve got nothing. But I think it’s enough.

If Kyle doesn’t win the appeal, here is the game that will live in infamy, I want the story to go viral, Day deserves all the scorn that would come his way

He will take the argument that he wanted his #2 QB to get reps for the last 20 mins of that game in case he needed to be called upon vs Michigan and/or the playoffs. Like UGA is dealing with now. McCord did have to start a game that year to allow Stroud to recover from injury.

I will see him in hell!!

Yep

The only rational is that Ryan Day is a nitwit. I just can't see that working. But I do wonder if we (Syracuse) have found another case where they let a guy play another year under similar circumstances.
here is what i will say... and i have mocked ryan day all year.

but from what i have heard was the first battle won was ohio state signing off on our waiver. and they (aka ryan day) did.

me thinks that is why Fran reiterated the "heck i owe him a case of champagne" a couple of weeks ago.

it now sits with NCAA. And Mccord still has to decide. But OSU did everyone a favor by giving the OK to start this.

Are we sure Kyle would want to stay? I’m sure his ultimate goal is to get into the league and waiting a year probably won’t help his chances.
There’s also a school of thought that by showing back to back successful years it really helps his stock versus being a one year wonder so to speak.

Heard the same

I honestly would beg to differ. Right now his stock is up slightly but he is still a day 3-UDFA on most draft boards. It is already solidified who the top guys in this years class are and even if he kills the bowl game and draft workouts that really isn’t going to change. Next year I think breeds a ton more opportunity for him. Right now the top prospect for next year is Arch Manning and he has barely even played college ball. After that it’s a lot of guys who are inexperienced or not fully proven. If Kyle came back and had a similar season to this year with a much tougher schedule and far more national attention he could easily work his way into a Day 2 selection if higher.

I disagree. I think another big year, beating some of the teams on next years schedule might help him. Joe Burrow said if he came out the year before, he would have gone in the 6th round. He stayed another year, won everything and the rest is history.

He’s seen as a lower rd pick. Another year successful year would improve his position. He can probably get about the same amount as a lower rd pick staying.

My guess is Kyle does not send people on a boondoggle to include it sounds like getting sign off from Day if he isn’t interested in staying another year. We have enough insiders saying there is smoke here to at least think there is something going on.
