Maybe they are bringing in transfer because McCord isn’t sure? If he wants to come back or try for NFL.
Well, in a (unlikely) scenario where the waiver was already approved and McCord was on the fence about whether to go to the NFL or not, they'd be hosting transfers and operating the same way they'd be operating if they were unsure whether he'd be granted the waiver.
Not from what I’ve been told.Is there any chance it was already approved, but Syracuse is only going to announce it if Kyle decides to come back and he's on the fence? That way if he goes to the NFL nobody ever knows he had an option.
On the other hand, you never want to be in the business of denying rumors. Once you start that, and don't deny something, the cat is out of the bag and you live to regret ever getting involved with the rumors in the first place.Well, in a (unlikely) scenario where the waiver was already approved and McCord was on the fence about whether to go to the NFL or not, they'd be hosting transfers and operating the same way they'd be operating if they were unsure whether he'd be granted the waiver.
It'd make the timeline on the waiver request make more sense. I can't come up with a scenario where they knew he wouldn't be back 100%, and were allowing these rumors to proliferate. They have plenty to lose and nothing to gain from letting unfounded rumors spread like this with no pushback.
No transfers are if he doesn’t get the waiver. He knows what he wants to do.Maybe they are bringing in transfer because McCord isn’t sure? If he wants to come back or try for NFL.
Dish dishNot from what I’ve been told.
I posted it before in the thread. They’re waiting on ncaa - they need to hear asap otherwise they have to move forward with transfers. Guy like salter will decide between us and Colorado within a week or so. Doesn’t leave us much time.Dish dish
You have to operate like he's not coming back. You can't take a chance, especially a low chance shot, and then get stuck holding the bag if he gets denied.
Ummm what?I would not be to worried about a transfer right now…….

Most credible thing imo. And that’s why I think it’s a big deal all his friends have been positing stuff. Is there any chance it was already approved, but Syracuse is only going to announce it if Kyle decides to come back and he's on the fence? Any big events coming up soon?
Everything related to Cam Rising has been completely by the book as far as the NCAA goes. He's made of glass and keeps getting injured before he plays a 5th game. He hasn't gotten any special waivers. You can get unlimited years if you keep getting hurt before game number 5.In regards to Kyle not getting a waiver I present the case of Cam Rising who was just given his 7th year of eligibility.
It all started 2 years before Dungey led Syracuse to a 10 win 2018 season. This is when Cam Rising was offered by Syracuse in February of 2017. Of course Syracuse didn't land Rising. He committed to Texas in 2017, decommitted from Texas in 2017, committed to Oklahoma in 2017, only to eventually decommit from Oklahoma and sign again with...you guessed in, Texas, in the 2017 recruiting class.
As Dungey was leading Syracuse to a magical 2018 season, Cam Rising took a redshirt at Texas, only to hit the portal and transfer to Utah in late 2018. Rising proceeded to redshirt once again in 2019 as he didn't accrue any statistics.
In the 2020 season that really didn't happen, Rising played in 1 of the Utes 5 games, going 3/6 for 46 yards and an INT.
2021 was finally the breakout season for Cam Rising. He took over for benched QB in game 2 and ended up playing 13 games leading Utah to a 10-3 record and a bowl game for the ages as they loss to Ohio St in a shootout, 48-45 in the Rose bowl.
In 2022, Rising led the Utes to another 10-3 record and another trip to the Rose bowl playing in all 14 games in what should had been his redshirt senior season. However, this is also where his career is thrown for a curve. Rising blew out his knee in the Rose bowl vs Penn St, which leads to all sorts of craziness.
Rising is granted a 3rd redshirt after his terrible knee injury in the bowl game therefore granting him a medical RS for the 2023 season.
Rising fought back from a terrible knee injury in 2022 and played in the first 2 games in 2024 before going down again with another injury. But just when you think it was over, the NCAA grants Rising his 2nd medical RS, and 4th RS combined.
2025 will be Cam Rising's 8th season of play in the NCAA as he turns 26 years old. Rising has so far played in 31 games as a college athletes. That's close to 3 entire season's. Assuming he some how is able to stay healthy next year for a full season that would bring him to 43 or 44 career games. Kyle McCord on the other hand has played in 4 seasons. One full season for Ohio St in 2023, and another for Syracuse in 2024. McCord was a combined 41-58 in his first 2 seasons at OSU. Kyle played 5 games in mop up duty as a true freshman in 2021, and amazingly 7 games as a sophomore in 2022, all in scrub time. He didn't start any games in 2022. He perfected the handoff and finished 16-20 for 190 yards in 7 games for the 2022 season.
I don't see how this is even a conversation if we're looking at this seriously. First, i'd be ticked off OSU screwed him in 2021 and 2022. He did not play football. He handed the ball off. There has to be some argument if you present the actual facts. It's not like Rising is the only case either. There are others that are similar to him that are still given 7th years. If you're looking to do what's right then you have to rule equally. Then again we're dealing with the NCAA who has had it out for us for a while.
Yeah the dominoes really started falling in a bad way when P and D failed to get Rising on campus.I remember Cam Rising’s recruitment. It was Pasqualoni’s final year and I always thought if we could’ve landed Cam we would’ve been fine.
I don’t usually like to make stuff up but here goes…… Maybe he committed to playing in the bowl game because he knew he’d be back next year.
I think it went the other way. He committed to playing in the bowl game to show the NCAA he was serious about using his eligibility.I don’t usually like to make stuff up but here goes…… Maybe he committed to playing in the bowl game because he knew he’d be back next year.
Exactly this. If there is a waiver pending, there is no way you can sit out the bowl game. That’s a middle finger to the NCAA.I think it went the other way. He committed to playing in the bowl game to show the NCAA he was serious about using his eligibility.
It still takes a special waiver to allow anything more than a 5th year plus one for Covid.Everything related to Cam Rising has been completely by the book as far as the NCAA goes. McCord did not just hand the ball off in 2021 -- he threw at least 3 passes in every game he played in 2021 and threw 8 passes in game number 5. It is extremely unlikely that he is getting a waiver. The only way I could see McCord even having a real argument is if there was some agreement between he and Day to redshirt and Day forced him into game #5 anyway, and even then it's still a stretch to get a waiver.
McCord's situation is much more similar to Taulia Tagovailoa, whom had his waiver request denied. In fact Taulia only played 2 snaps in his 5th game his freshman year, so I think he actually had a stronger case than McCord. This is why Wildhack keeps saying it's very unlikely.
