I really think if Kyle was given the 5th year our NIL would go up another million dollars just from him coming back. The amount of support he’s gotten from us fans is insane.
If Kyle comes back, anything is possible. Or at least that's how it feels, and people will pony up the dough for that.

Everything related to Cam Rising has been completely by the book as far as the NCAA goes. He's made of glass and keeps getting injured before he plays a 5th game. He hasn't gotten any special waivers. You can get unlimited years if you keep getting hurt before game number 5.

McCord did not just hand the ball off in 2021 -- he threw at least 3 passes in every game he played in 2021 and threw 8 passes in game number 5. It is extremely unlikely that he is getting a waiver. The only way I could see McCord even having a real argument is if there was some agreement between he and Day to redshirt and Day forced him into game #5 anyway, and even then it's still a stretch to get a waiver.

McCord's situation is much more similar to Taulia Tagovailoa, whom had his waiver request denied. In fact Taulia only played 2 snaps in his 5th game his freshman year, so I think he actually had a stronger case than McCord. This is why Wildhack keeps saying it's very unlikely.

If Rising gets hurt before his 5th game can he get another year? And another and another?

McCord was 1 for 3 against Rutgers and didn’t get hurt so this all makes perfect sense.

That's correct -- if Rising keeps getting hurt before the 5th game he can in theory stay in college football literally forever (or at least until he's dead). At least that is the way the rules are written.

It’s not that we don’t trust him. It’s just what do you tell a QB in the portal? Please hold and we’ll get back to you?
No clue...but lets say McCord isn't even a part of the picture and already declared. What is he saying to Salter, Collins, and Colandrea about the other? All those guys aren't transferring here to ride the bench and are all aware of each other visiting/being in contact w/ Fran.

It’s like any job where you interview a bunch of candidates. You’re honest with them that you’re talking to a few people to find the right fit for the role.

The rules are written, I believe, that you have 5 years to play 4. The extra year is granted if one hasn’t exceeded 4 games in one year. Anything beyond that requires a waiver. They are generally granted for multiple years if the player has multiple years playing less than 4 games. But, they don’t have to grant the waiver.

How is that possible after already taking a redshirt for not playing and then coivd.

They are looking for a waiver, much like the waivers sought when someone is looking for a 6th, 7th, 8th or even 9th year.

Injury waiver. As an aside Covid year is like that year never existed as far as playing time and eligibility.

I hear what you're saying...but a guy like Salter is going to have to be wooed here, not the other way around. Telling him he's one of many in consideration...then letting him go hold Travis Hunters Heisman while he talks to Deion probably isn't Frans best approach.

Going back to my prior comment though - I guess what I mean is I have no idea what the right thing is to say to these recruits about the possibility of McCord returning, but I trust that Fran does and I feel some of that might include a white lie or two.

Didn't Tua actually play 5 years? And want a 6th? Maybe I am remembering it wrong.
