I'm calling it right now, Kyle is coming back. No inside information (I never have inside information), just a feeling.

I base my feeling on the belief that the NIL damages argument is a solid one, given Kyle's high profile imo, and the belief that Kyle will choose to return if allowed the opportunity.
Why do this to yourself?

That was 100% not going to happen, too. At one point, according to some. Stay gold, Ponyboy.
There is quite a bit of difference between the two, however. The Bowl game decision was entirely up to Kyle. Whether the NCAA would give him another year is up to the NCAA. They need to have a reason to do that. I don't know what that could be. Is there another example where the NCAA did allow a player another year because the coach at the previous school was a nitwit? If we found one, that would be a different story. Short of that, I can't see the NCAA opening themselves up to something like this. A guy in the athletic dept did say that he thought that Kyle would get it approved. But it wasn't Fran or JW.

The NCAA has a clear rule.. You get 5 yrs to play 4.

How does that differ from the, you can play 4 games not 5 games rule?

Waivers are for all those other people who want to play 6-7-8-9 yrs.

I'm just saying that some posters said there was 0% chance Kyle would play in the bowl game. They didn't even leave a sliver of a chance, and yet he says he is playing. It is a totally different story with the NCAA, for sure. But, there is a waiver request out there pending (SDot, not ignoring what you heard, but it hasn't officially been announced), doesn't that leave at least a sliver? And, if there is a little hope, then we should be open to hoping for the slight chance that Kyle is granted the waiver and plays for Syracuse next year?

Hey, I include it in my nightly prayers.

Hasn't the NCAA ruled that a season, or one of the 4, is if you play in more than 4 games in a season.

In fairness, I never said he wouldn’t play in the bowl game. I said he’d be crazy to play because the very low risk still outweighs any positive.

Check all my previous posts because I could have easily just made up what I wrote above. I have no idea what I actually wrote in the last week+

I wasn't calling anyone out. Because honestly, I highly doubted he would play. I'm just saying that if there is a tiny bit of hope, some will run with it and believe with everything they have that it will come to pass. Others play the percentages and will believe it is impossible. Either way, they are both justified. All we can do is wait for an official announcement.

Whatever it is, the NCAA has to rule on this quickly so that we can move on. Which we probably have. Fran was at the game Saturday with a qb.
Absolutely, hopefully we know this week...maybe Wednesday.

I was absolutely in the camp that thought there was zero point zero % chance he was gonna play in the Holiday Bowl vs. Wazzu.
Why would he? IF he was going Pro.

But - that was before I heard that they're still working on trying to get NCAA waiver for him.

So, now it makes perfect sense.
Because if he's open to coming back (given the required waiver gets approved), then he 110% is going to play in the bowl game,
since that is what returning players do.

Of course, since we are Syracuse, and seem to be on the short end of the stick w the NCAA basically 100% of the time, I'm not gonna hold my breath or count any chickens.

He probably won't get the extra year but let's not act like the NCAA is some virtuous organization who only makes consistent eligibility decisions based on black and white reading of their outdated rules.
