Kyle McCord to NFL Draft

I was absolutely in the camp that thought there was zero point zero % chance he was gonna play in the Holiday Bowl vs. Wazzu.
Why would he? IF he was going Pro.

But - that was before I heard that they're still working on trying to get NCAA waiver for him.

So, now it makes perfect sense.
Because if he's open to coming back (given the required waiver gets approved), then he 110% is going to play in the bowl game,
since that is what returning players do.

Of course, since we are Syracuse, and seem to be on the short end of the stick w the NCAA basically 100% of the time, I'm not gonna hold my breath or count any chickens.
I mean, you still need to know how many chickens you have.

I wasn't calling anyone out. Because honestly, I highly doubted he would play. I'm just saying that if there is a tiny bit of hope, some will run with it and believe with everything they have that it will come to pass. Others play the percentages and will believe it is impossible. Either way, they are both justified. All we can do is wait for an official announcement.

I didn’t take it that way at all. It didn’t surprise me he decided to play but it also wouldn’t have surprised me at all if he opted out.

I'm just saying that some posters said there was 0% chance Kyle would play in the bowl game. They didn't even leave a sliver of a chance, and yet he says he is playing. It is a totally different story with the NCAA, for sure. But, there is a waiver request out there pending (SDot, not ignoring what you heard, but it hasn't officially been announced), doesn't that leave at least a sliver? And, if there is a little hope, then we should be open to hoping for the slight chance that Kyle is granted the waiver and plays for Syracuse next year?
With Wazzu now down over 20 players for the game, if I was Kyle I'd re-evaluate my decision to play. Glad he's playing, don't think it's the right move for him.

I'd love one more year of McCord. But posting on this board that "I have a gut feeling his waiver gets approved" doesn't change the fact he's out of eligibility by the rules of the NCAA. And has SU ever won a fight with the NCAA?

I think Kyle plays the first half and racks up major passing yards, and then sits the second half with the game well in hand. I get what you’re saying about the waiver, but there’s a chance. And, some of us cling to that.

The NCAA has had the appeal for months. If it was such an open and shut case , you think they would have made a decision by now? Amiright?
LOL open and shut, which way?

I don't think he will be in the game all that long.

Neither do I. Game might not even happen at this rate.

Another year where we get jobbed by the bowl committee.

There is quite a bit of difference between the two, however. The Bowl game decision was entirely up to Kyle. Whether the NCAA would give him another year is up to the NCAA. They need to have a reason to do that. I don't know what that could be. Is there another example where the NCAA did allow a player another year because the coach at the previous school was a nitwit? If we found one, that would be a different story. Short of that, I can't see the NCAA opening themselves up to something like this. A guy in the athletic dept did say that he thought that Kyle would get it approved. But it wasn't Fran or JW.
Sure, he did. Who was it?

Most of our problems with the NCAA have been with JB. maybe it was mostly jb they didn't like?

He wants a name on who in the AD's office said Kyle would be approved.
LOL yeah, and good luck getting someone to tell you anything ever again. I know that is what he meant. I actually gave him credit for more smarts than that. For years, I have given this board inside stuff. You know why? Because not once, have I ever outed someone who told me something. I'm not alone. Others have done the same thing here. In case he didn't notice, I also said I don't think McCord will get a waiver. Just that was what was said.

We know who your source is, it's obvious, Dasher. We all know you are close to the big guy, the jolly fatman. You've been pulling his sleigh for years. And, you hear things. Lots of things. I bet you've got access to the list, too...both of them. Don't be coy, just admit your source is Santa.

I am not complaining and appreciate your inside info.

I don't know where this unfounded sense of entitlement comes from these days with some folks.

Appreciate you and anyone else who shares what they hear. It’s what got me hooked when I joined more than a decade ago.

He's playing for something larger than himself. The culture has changed.
