Landan Salem (Director of Player Personnel) leaving SU

we are talking about a position that doesnt pay all that much does it? i mean getting lured to memphis is one thing but its not like SU paid him 100K and Memphis is paying 500k?
No income tax. He just got a pay increase.

so say he makes 20K more, if SU wanted to match that for the position its peanuts in the big picture. if there was value they would match that or counter.. maybe he wanted a change, maybe he was nudged. Its a position thats can be filled easier than coaches can

I think they throw them a bone every now and then but it isn't close to what Nike does with Oregon. Wasn't it FedEx that promised any P5 conference that would listen it would give them $100 million if they would only invite Memphis?

Looks like they raise and spend around 55 mil. We are 71 / 72 mil. Thank you TV!

well if that source is correct, which i’m not sure it is, so what? You’re post acts like it’s some indictment on SU. Maybe Memphis throws a lot of money at coaches? Good for them but maybe they are out of line with others. Their head coach makes more than Babers too, but he makes more than the head coaches at BC, Oregon, Maryland, Notre Dame, Arizona, Arizona St, Kansas St, Wake Forest, etc. also.
The source is absolutely, 100% correct. Maybe I’ll make it a point to not say anything anymore — isn’t that what moderators get upset at posters for doing? Killing sources and wondering why people don’t post info on topics?

Great precedent you set bud. Also, perception is reality. If Memphis is outpaying Syracuse, it doesn’t matter about fiscal responsibility.Top coaches will go wherever they get paid, the majority of the time. Bottom line, just like a business.

For the record, I appreciate you posting this tidbit.

I am saddened a school like Memphis is outbidding us for our people but it is good to know what is going on, even if it is bad stuff.

I have no problem with Syracuse not wasting money on expendable employees.

They outspent us for a guy who follows kids on twitter.

Take this for what it's worth--I was told (2nd hand, maybe 3rd) that Alabama has a cohort of 40+ who follow social media of players/recruits. I'm sure these people have other duties, but still . . .

that would mean Ala has millions to spend to follow twitter.. and then add it all the money on extra non coaches who help out

Georgia has a program of "interns" that sit and watch film all day for 'croots
When they find a good one they get a gift card or some BS
The big boys throw millions and millions at recruiting
We get beat out by Memphis
So maybe it's not all Dino's fault recruiting isn't top 30

I believe what you're saying but '40+' is insane.

You've got to figure that there are so many desperate, wannabe fans of Alabama and Georgia and other major programs that people are doing a lot of this grunt work for free. You can just sit back and have people bring it to you.

This x1000. If Memphis wants to spend more than market for unskilled labor, so be it.

I have no doubt a raise was involved. I’d be interested to see if it’s truly a lateral move or a promotion with more responsibility. Every team structures responsibilities differently.

Hard to draw any conclusions without knowing details we’ll never know.

yea, I really killed your source. grow up.
and I responded to you acting like it was some condemnation on SU because someone my have gotten more someplace else. it means diddly. look at the salary list I linked. you're complaining about something that means nothing in the big picture of SU's perception. yet you said "think about that".

Did not get nudged at all. In fact, quite the opposite. Memphis is a significant $$$ increase.

Think about that for a second - Memphis of the AAC pays better than Syracuse of the ACC.
Shocking.

yes, I did that and see its a Clemson edu spreadsheet. just wondered what kind of research or sleuthing it took for you to find something like that. or did gbo link you to it? :)
Its interesting, base salary is only a part of the assistant coach compensation right?

I honestly don't know but I would think assistants don't have bonuses.

It's got to be
Dabo is listed at $250k...
So he 8 million plus salary is mostly bonus, booster, and endorsement money?
