Landan Salem (Director of Player Personnel) leaving SU

It's got to be
Dabo is listed at $250k...
So he 8 million plus salary is mostly bonus, booster, and endorsement money?

he asked about assistants. but yes, dabo and all the other high end guys have their salaries supplemented with some bonus money but mostly by booster clubs. if su were to ever want to pay the type of money the clemsons and alabamas do, the boosters better start boosting because that's where the majority of it comes from.

yes, I did that and see its a Clemson edu spreadsheet. just wondered what kind of research or sleuthing it took for you to find something like that. or did gbo link you to it? :)

I googled something like "Clemson football salaries," knowing they are a public university and may have publicly available salary data. I also went to Clemson's athletics website to get a sense of the coaches and their titles.

When i found the spreadsheet, i did a word find for "Dooley" who i looked up on Clemson football's website as Director of Player Personnel. Then i noticed he was listed as being a member of the "Football" department on the spreadsheet. From there i used "football" as my word-find term.

Salem must be working in a different capacity at Memphis. Here's what the Director of Player Personnel made last year.

Not exactly Clempsom

Edit: Link didnt work right. Type in "Justin Crouse." Note the department is "football."

you should work for the government. lol.

I'm pretty good at finding things out about people. God forbid any of you post full names on here, I'll know where you live, work, what you make, who you're married to, where you went to school, pets, STDs, hobbies, phobias, etc. (most of that was an exaggeration)

And don't forget Forest City, always good for a couple of P5 players......not to mention West Memphis.

Venables is an assistant. He makes waaaaaaay more than the $245k coaching cap implied by the spreadsheet. ;)

i'm sure there are a few exceptions. but the additional he makes could also be from the booster club and not bonus money.

IPTAY plus some extra bag$ should take care of things. Right, gbo?

I have no problem with Syracuse not wasting money on expendable employees.

They outspent us for a guy who follows kids on twitter.

He didn't just follow kids on twitter. His dad is the TE coach at Pitt and used that connection to get us a couple players that Pitt recruited but didn't have room for like David Summers. So maybe he can get their leftovers/plan b's to Memphis now?

its legal for booster clubs to pay coaches salaries.
Yup. I was just pointing out how Clemson’s coaches get their$.

Yeah so there has to be a bonus or other payment structure. I'd hope SU could commit to 250k per for coordinator and top assistants.

that misses the whole point to what I responded to.
Your point was that the Memphis coach made more than the coaches at... Backed it with the chart... We are not mind readers. What is your point?

Yes, all of those core assistants make well over $245k. The rest is supplemented with coaching endowments, boosters, IPTAY, marketing companies like IMG, etc.

Their total payroll has to be YUGE.

David v Goliath to us.

We dont need to pay at Clemson or Alabama levels. We need to match our peer schools. Teams like Cincinnati, Boise State, and lower tier teams like NDSU have excellent coaching staffs with very moderate payrolls. Salary level doesn't necessarily equate to talent level. Hire a staff full of Sean Lewis level coaches and we will be just fine.

and the Remington ammo factory and I-40 Auto Auctions in beautiful Loanoke, Arkansas
Oh yes Remington...even their corporate offices were in the middle of nowhere NC.
