Yeah it would seem on the surface the decision was on our side.Considering the three finalists, doesn't look like there was much demand for him.
Some of them are but we don’t need their entire roster of available portal players.Let’s be honest with that offer list, he was obviously not the difference maker some thought, even if he wasn’t interested in Cuse, with that final 3, he isn’t a difference maker. I said a couple days ago and got some push back which is fine these Toledo players for the most part are not the difference makers we need, it appears in this case the majority of power 4 schools agree.
You forgot about Thomas and Crawford tooWe get Sherman and D’Appolonia
To go along with AD, Bryant and Tremble we are more than set at Linebacker.
I can see Tremble being moved to edge too as more of a standup D-end to rush the QB…think Chandler Jones
Feel pretty good about Malachi Davis from Toledo too. You’ll have Jarius Rodgers and Kamron Wilson on the end too. They are young and can’t be counted on for large amount of snaps. But they’ll get better throughout the season. Both are too talented to keep out of the rotation entirely. And you’ll have David O on the edge as well. I think we can get Adeleye who had 7 sacks last year.
So realistically on the end you’ll have David O, Malachi Davis, Adeleye, Tremble, Rodgers and Wilson. Think we need to bring in one more in the portal on top of these guys.
Then inside we’ll have.
Hastings, Perry, Nyandoro, Nissi, Pray and I think Haskell gets moved inside and I think he’ll get snaps as a true Freshman. Think you need to bring in 1-2 more guys that can play right away in the portal too. Don’t need to be studs but guys that can contribute next year for sure
This kid was 1 st team all mac why would we not be interested.Seems like it, Grandmother on the board indicates obviously his party had interest but was it one sided interest? I figured if we didn’t get this kid it would’ve been because bigger programs just outbid us, final 3 says otherwise. A case of media/fabs being higher on a prospect than coaches potentially.
I’d assume the same reason nobody else was interested. His final 3 does not indicate he was sought after. This kid was 1 st team all mac why would we not be interested.

Retweeted by the player in case there were questions over the veracity of the poster. Doesn’t seem like we’re a factor in this one.
Didn't know his name before we hired Kehres. Not losing sleep over it, especially with his top 3.This one would suck. Really like him as a player
If we have his former DC, and his former DC really wanted him, I would suspect we would have him. The fact that we weren’t even on the list of visits is very telling. This one would suck. Really like him as a player
That's fair, Toledo's defense was a fun watch this year especially in contrast to ours. I'm sure we'll get some fun new faces regardlessDidn't know his name before we hired Kehres. Not losing sleep over it, especially with his top 3.
If we get someone better, I'll be very happy. If we have his former DC, and his former DC really wanted him, I would suspect we would have him. The fact that we weren’t even on the list of visits is very telling.
I would have lost money if someone wanted to bet that this would be the outcome. That's fair, Toledo's defense was a fun watch this year especially in contrast to ours. I'm sure we'll get some fun new faces regardless
I wasn't expecting floodgates of Toledo dudes, and certainly just landing Kehres himself without any of his players is a huge upgrade, but this wasn't it either. Losing the DT to UConn, I mean, I know Candle has a relationship with the player, too, but you would expect the coordinator on that side of the ball to have a stronger relationship, and for Cuse to have more $$ to give out. Obviously I have no idea how much of a priority the DT was for us, but this is still an unexpected result.I would have lost money if someone wanted to bet that this would be the outcome.
Drawing conclusions with incomplete information will get you into a lot of trouble in my experience. That’s why I’m waiting and seeing first. If we get to the end of the portal period and the DL adds look meh then it’s time to be critical.I wasn't expecting floodgates of Toledo dudes, and certainly just landing Kehres himself without any of his players is a huge upgrade, but this wasn't it either. So far I’m not excited thoughDrawing conclusions with incomplete information will get you into alot of trouble in my experience. That’s why I’m waiting and seeing first. If we get to the end of the portal period and the DL adds look meh then it’s time to be critical.
I would have expected more commits out of the first weekend so I get it.So far I’m not excited though
Maybe we are going after bigger fishSo far I’m not excited though
I've drawn zero conclusions. Just expressing some initial surprise.Drawing conclusions with incomplete information will get you into a lot of trouble in my experience. I think with some of these portalers since this is their second, or third time around, they are going to take multiple visits and weigh all their options. I'm sure their agents are pushing them to listen to all offers ($$$).I would have expected more commits out of the first weekend so I get it.
