LeQuint Allen is Back

When do these situations ever pan out for athletes at SU? We’re kidding ourselves if we think this decision will get changed. The only hope is the judge demanding changes. Even with that, I doubt SU will do an about face. Don’t tell me the university is supporting the football program. This should have all been handled by coach Babers.

The person who was punched never even testified. Hearsay doesn't stand. Unless a witness is willing to swear under oath.
Yeah it does, says so explicitly in the rules.

The judge isn’t going to demand changes

It’s not his job.

One punch, two SEMESTER suspension. Get out of here
Yeah, I mean, I do not understand what the h*** they are thinking. I mean, he put it in The best way one punch and you're out for the year are you freaking kidding me! Especially iPlayer that had such huge momentum and everybody expected huge things from this guy, and just like that, they're Kiki, I'm out for the year. It's just pretty much shows that they don't give a rat's a** about football.
And their priorities are really out of freaking whack with With everything going on with The conference realignment and all that.
I mean, that happens if this holds up. You might as well kiss his a** Goodbye. Hes not going to put up with that. Also I could be reaching here but I mean. Hes a Jerzy kid and that may give other kids.
A bad taste in their mouth with how this went down just based on what? And that is just pure speculation. But I mean, if I was in that situation
And I got into a fight or I just punch somebody in. Then I got to worry about being kicked out for the year. Just seems a little bit ridiculous. I mean, that sounds like maybe a game suspension or two, Not a freaking season, oh my gosh.

Unfortunately I believe this won’t be resolved and poor LA’s life has been flipped upside because of one mistake.

Absolute shame and Syracuse should be EMBARRASSED
The whole thing is ridiculous. I don’t even care that he hit the kid. There are fights every night in college. i can’t count how many i was involved in. In what world does 1 punch, that didn’t cause serious harm , lead to your life being turned upside down. If this 23 year old kid , who was in several fights that night, and found unreliable , is the whole thing that got this started there is no way LA should have got in any trouble at all . i commend him for taking his teammates back (Wish it wasn’t Duce) when in trouble. To me this whole thing is a big nothing burger. Not only should be not be suspended for 2 semesters , but the entire thing should have been thrown out.

Another thing i don’t understand is why campus police weren’t involved instead of Syracuse police? Someone who calls the police after a fight needs to be shamed as a man. I’m surprised this fools name hasn’t leaked yet.

SPD responded because the UV complex is considered "off campus" per the UV website:

University Village Apartments is considered off-campus housing. You should check with the SU Housing Department to be sure you have fulfilled their requirements before applying.

Well, the complaint and ruling against LeQuint says on campus.

So - maybe that’s yet another way his attorney can get this overturned?

What a student does off campus is really none of the University’s concern.

As much as I agree with you, I’ve still seen many times where actions off campus are still considered a representation of the college/program and are punishable. I’ve seen underage kids penalized for posting on social media with alcoholic beverages.

Here's where we have a gray area. While the housing may be deemed "off campus," it seems that the land it sits on could be the property of SU and therefore a part of the campus.

University Village Apartments was completed in 2009. A public-private project between the university and Education Realty Trust, the community comprises five buildings with two- and four-bedroom units as well as a clubhouse/student activity center. The project architect was Holmes • King • Kallquist & Associates. The community is fully pre-leased for the upcoming school year.

Yeah it is.

The Code of Student Conduct applies to all students and student organizations at Syracuse University. Violations can occur either on or off campus, and individuals and/or groups can be held accountable.

Where?
9.10 Each party will have the opportunity to ask questions indirectly of the other party through the chairperson or administrative hearing officer. The chairperson or administrative hearing officer has the discretion to determine whether to permit questioning of witnesses indirectly through the chairperson or administrative hearing officer. Formal rules of evidence do not apply. Any information or statement may be admitted (including hearsay) at the discretion of the chairperson or administrative hearing officer. The parties may ask questions indirectly through the chairperson or hearing officer subject to reasonableness and relevance, as determined by the chairperson or administrative hearing officer.

Such a farce

Yeah it is.

Yup. During the pandemic, my daughter was told that violations of SU's COVID protocols even off campus would subject her to discipline. So she had to abide by SU's rules no matter where she was.

1. Why does it matter if the kid is football player? He shouldn’t be treated better or worse.

2. The code of conduct is very clear you injure someone you are at risk of getting kicked out of school. Period. Doesn’t matter who started it.

Wasn’t there a fight at 44’s / Konrads involving a football player maybe 15-20 years ago? I can’t recall the outcome or whether they had already finished playing…

And I guarantee it was handled in house. You think Babers and his army family background is the type to be passive and say no none of this is your fault and no consequences by me. Doubtful. I bet Lequint got some conditioning in that others did not.
