Lesters' Offense Hybrids

How about the fact that McDonald was OC at WMU, or that he recruited at the D1 level for over a decade before coming to SU? How does that make Lester more experienced?

For one season - then moved. Never recruited talent for his system.

reading about Hunt going under center doesn't encourage me. do people think that fits his talent?

The tweet said they are all doing that a bit to start - but expect pistol more (exactly what we'd assume).

I was being fresh milly.

Not a big fan of TH. Built like a pocket passer without any of the accuracy or touch. The irony is that his legs are his best attribute, and yet defensive coordinators will never lose sleep about keeping him in the pocket.

They will in the Redzone.

Tell that to Minnesota, BC, NC State, Maryland...

my only hope is that lester is actually going to run an urban meyer offense and he wants to pretend like it's his own thing. going under center at all dampens that hope though

i wonder if our h backs will actually be versatile enough. phillips can do that quick oregon/ohio state motion to the backfield giving a two back look before the defense can adjust - can mcfarlane get out to block linebackers while hunt reads a DE and keeps or gives to phillips. can lewis do this? i'm skeptical. worry that syracuse will have to telegraph what they'll do based on who that h back is at that moment

but but but that offense wasn't suited to terrel hunt

My point was "keeping him in the pocket" should be exactly what DC's worry about. And they will regardless of the system.

Was our redzone efficiency pretty good? I can't recall.

With Hunt the last two seasons vs without? Night and day. We need to have more than just that, but he's good around there.

our redzone td % in august and september last year was 97th last year

middle of the pack 60th for all of 2013

The only issue with ishat is it takes away the element of surprise if teams realize Lewis in the game means no jet sweeps, etc. You need to run the same plays for both guys, but that doesn't mean I want to see Lewis taking handoffs regularly, or Erv being asked to block as though he was a TE.
Not saying Lewis should be a full time tail back but he can run. He is pretty fast and can run some db's over. I understand he dropped some passes last year but he also had some nice catches too. Lewis will be muvh better this year than last. Lets leave it up to the staff to see how they will utilize this combo.

I said when he was in at QB - so include the year before too. We don't beat Minnesota without his run into the end zone to take the lead.

And he was hampered by Mcit.

Read my comment again... This is not a matter of opinion. Lester has designed, installed, and recruited for a system. McDonald had not. That makes him better at that particular skill. His offense still might be crap, but experience is not a judgement call. It's fact.
RICHARD NIXON, GREGG ROBINSON,HERBERT HOOVER ALL HAD EXPERIENCE--- I HAVE FIRED PEOPLE WITH EXPERIENCE BECAUSE THEY WERE HORRIBLE. experience and competence are separate issues. the only fact is last years offense

McDonald not only was a bad OC, but didn't show great ability as a WR coach, his only attribute was a great recruiter, which didn't show either.
