They had a good discussion on run schemes from the shotgun sets and how hard it is to be good at inside zone runs from that set.
Isn't that mostly what we ran the last few years?
They were of the opinion that its an easier concept to teach but a harder concept to be good at and that teams that go that way as the focus of the run game struggle because of the lack of variety it produces.. Teams are able to scheme against it and the pass much easier because they don't have to worry as much on the back end on fits? Given a small number of hours teams went the route of work on the pass and get better at a small number of running plays .
The top run teams like Liberty/Kansas run way less inside zone stuff and much more outside zone stuff.
