I think he would have been at least as good a choice as Girardi to have been the Yankee Skipper. Girardi has done a decent job but he is no Joe Torre.

Girardi had the experience and success already as a manager. Girardi was the obvious choice at the time.

I'm kind of glad Mattingly is not the Yankee manager. I tend to have a love/hate relationship with managers. I don't ever want to feel negative thoughts about Mattingly or criticize his decisions.

Managing the Dodgers to a great start in the NL through three weeks is nice and all but it doesn't compare to winning a WS and the AL East.

I love Donny as a player (and think he will do well as a Manager) but I'd rather have Joe with the Yanks. Plus, I'd feel bad questioning his handling of the bullpen - not so much with Girardi.
