Total BS you have no idea what you are talking aboutthat the two freshmen D.Ends who failed multiple drug tests before halfway through their true freshmen season.
I think Shafer lost control of this team from the Seniors on down. The seniors should have read the riot act to these two players after the first fail. How could these kids not know that there would be follow ups...mind boggling to think about that.Either they just didn't care or someone was telling them there would be no follow ups. If I failed a single drug test I would be gone before the next word would come out of my mouth. No second chances for me.
There was no commitment by these two and the next coach does not have to accept them back and now you have a former Q.B. that seems to be enjoying this mess for personal reason.
Our strongest o-lineman was a walk-on player this year which I am sure it's something that doesn't happen very often at a P5 school. To me one of the very most important piece of the puzzle to any successful D-1 is to have a solid S&C PROGRAM where the upperclass lineman have developed to the point to where there stomachs flatten out, instead it seems our lineman seem to be overlapping more and more as the years go on.
This trend has carried on and on as the coaching staff changes every few years. Villanova owned our line even while being out weighed by about 40 lb. across the line. There needs to be wholesale changes there too.
Truthfully I think there was a lot more turmoil going on behind the scenes than what's being said in public and I think Orgeron might have the cache' to clean this mess up as I really don't know much about the others involved.I never would have thought about Ed O as being a head coach here.
And by dumb decisions we mean what 80% of the student population is also doing and is legal in like 4 states.

Think what you want.....Total BS you have no idea what you are talking about
As with any organization not firing on all cylinders...there are some behind the scenes things...most of it is normal team dynamics crap...but it didn't help. It isn't my place to air it publically as what I heard was 2nd hand and frankly we don't need to over-analyze this stuff...in public.Total BS you have no idea what you are talking about
then we had this.....http://www.usatoday.com/story/gameo...players-arrested-on-burglary-charges/1969035/There has been less reported issues than the past. Better?
Speaking of S&C, I hope Hicks is finally replaced with someone who knows how to teach a proper squat.

I can fully understand the coach can't control everything, but we made a list that was posted earlier of being fairly high up for total arrests.
Spruill and Rene got arrested before them also.
I don't put the blame for those on Shafer...he barely took over the program...sad those kids threw away there future.
So it's on him from when he was the DC? So it's not Marrone then for those ones? Ok, so this new stuff with Sheppard and Ealy is on Bullough.I get what you are saying, but he was their defensive coordinator and Cusian was just trying to point out there was very little issues. Sometimes people forgot about the other stuff that some time seems to cure memories.
Broyld and Williams were not let go for being choir boys.
Broyld admitted today that his issue was academics and he was given every opportunity to correct what was needed to stay at SU and he didn't comply. He had to leave as he was ineligible, wasn't Shafer's decision'Well, he also had issues with Ashton Broyld and Wayne Williams, but the fact that they were dismissed seems to at least partially refute the OP.

Keep stretching. Yes it falls on Marrone for Spruill and Rene ultimately,Walls and Brewster, Shafer was their head coach and was also their D.C. for a time also. The D.C'S spend more time with their players on their side of the ball than the head coach. You should even know that.So it's on him from when he was the DC? So it's not Marrone then for those ones? Ok, so this new stuff with Sheppard and Ealy is on Bullough.

I thought I read that but don't don't remember academics being mentioned.
"I want to thank Scott, his wife Missy, and their family for their seven years of dedication and service to SU Athletics and Syracuse University. Scott has worked tirelessly to educate our students on and off the field and to build our program. However, I feel a change in leadership is needed at this time. A national search will begin immediately," Coyle said. You can think what you want, those players earned their suspensions like the others who got the boot. The players here lost control and did not respect the other players and the staff. Twist all you want.
Coyle even said their was a leadership problem,go argue with him
Was definitely academics. He said Shafer had no choice in the matter and had to kick him off the team.
