Pitino and the majority of the Louisville fan base have been touting this unfairness to current players and especially the two Senior transfers. It's really not that unfair. Louisville did something wrong and apparently very wrong.
Louisville's beloved athletic director, and not so beloved president, saw the evidence and realized they would be getting severely punished. Assuming non of the current players were at fault, Ville could have waited out the NCAA investigation which would have gone beyond season end. Their current team would have played in the NCAA's. Next year's team likely would not have. They, and they alone, chose to take the penalty this year. By doing this they:
