At this point it would be nice to stop with the Rickie experiment. But it seems Fran is to stubborn to make a change. You got to give Carney the start this week. Collins just isn't it. He has a great arm and throws a good spiral but that is where the platitudes end.
Based on what I watched last night it is all mental with Collins. He made a couple good plays but then he would literally just stop focus and toss a head scratching play right after. I don’t think that’s coachable though, and I just don’t see him as figuring it out here. Maybe I’m wrong but I just don’t see it getting any better. You got to give Carney the start this week. This season is shot already, why burn Carney's redshirt? Angeli comes back next year and has two years of eligibility remaining. Luke, will have used up one year, sits behind Angeli for two years, and has only one year to start, if another QB hasn't been brought in and beats him out. What is the upside of playing Carney now? Is he going to beat Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, or Miami? Is he going to beat out Angeli next year? Even if he gets experience and gets over his learning curve this year, who among us would not want to see the Cuse bring in a portal QB next year to challenge Angeli? With the injury to angeli, and the poor play of Collins, our QB situation is in a difficult place because you need two game ready QB's to prevent what we are seeing now.Based on what I watched last night it is all mental with Collins. Enough with the redshirt nonsense. He’ll eventually have 5 to play 5.This season is shot already, why burn Carney's redshirt? Angeli comes back next year and has two years of eligibility remaining. He can redshirt next year behind angeli giving him two years to play. We need him now. This season is shot already, why burn Carney's redshirt? Redshirts mean little now a days. Odds of Carney staying four years and needing a fifth are very low, If he can get us a couple of W's and into a bowl game it is worth the burn. This season is shot already, why burn Carney's redshirt? Not sure how you can judge his arm strength based on the plays he was given to run. The coaches only prepared him for a limited number of plays.I assume everyone else also got the Nunes vibes when he came in? Small QB, quick feet, weak(ish) looking arm with a long delivery. And wears #11?
Luke should just look at Nunes' wife and say well at least this story can end well.

She hot?
The Redshirt talk is not nonsense!. Even if he gets 5 to play 5, which isn't a guarantee at this point, why waiste one of those years on a season going nowhere? When Angeli was playing bad at the start of the season, there were actually fans, calling for Ricky from the stands...fans know nothing..but they talk like they do. these same fans...that were screaming for Ricky(Including media talking heads, like Axe), are now screaming for Carney...I get it, the number 2 always look "all world" ,when the number 1 is playing bad. Our reality is that we have no P4 caliber QB on the roster, who can go out and win games! The signing of Ricky Collins was a huge MISS! Imagine what this season would look like, if we didn't get Angeli? Fran recognized the Collins miss and went out and got Angeli. If he didn't get hurt, we would not be having this conversation. The Coaches want to win and i believe they would put Cinderella out there if they thought she would help us win. There is a reason why Carney is not starting or playing more and the people's who's job and reputation are on the line, are the ones who know best.Enough with the redshirt nonsense. He’ll eventually have 5 to play 5.
Because players want to believe they still have something to play for. That each game is winnable and the coaches are doing their best to win NOW. It's that simple. The Redshirt talk is not nonsense!. The problem is you are saying that Collins runs' Nixon's offense better, when the problem is that Nixon's offense does not fit anyone other than Angeli. The offense needs to change. At least when Carney is in, Nixon does change the plays. When Collins comes back in, we go back to trying to force Collins to make plays he cannot make reliably. The Redshirt talk is not nonsense!. Make it 90-10 in favor of Luke. Collins can't play any worse with fewer reps.Reps should be 50-50 this week.
Play everyone. He needs reps to prepare for next year. The Redshirt talk is not nonsense!. Maybe we can pull an upset if Luke can spark the offense. We also need to see if he can be a capable backup next year. What is the upside of playing Carney now? Is he going to beat Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, or Miami?
Do you really think Carney has shown something in practice that warrants starting him versus the current starter is so bad, anybody has to be better. That is the mindset people seem to have as opposed to our entire QB room is not very capable of winning a game and Ricky is the best of the bunch. I love the Orange..and this is a really bad place to be..middle of the season, you lost your starting QB, and the next men up...don't seem very capable...and you have a difficult schedule ahead. The Coach said what this season is about in the Presser after the Pitt game: We are a young team...and we have to develop! That is what the remainder of this season is about. I am not saying that...Coach Fran said it!Because players want to believe they still have something to play for. That each game is winnable and the coaches are doing their best to win NOW. It's that simple.
