Marcus Sales

So you're saying he didn't break any laws and that if he was just a student He would be allowed back. If you think that you're dillusional.

According to the law, he didn't break any laws. The rest, like your diatribe is speculation and opinion.

Regardless, DM gave DCIII another opportunity, even though the law said he broke the law. So, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Marrone will allow him back on.

He'll be back, he was not charged with anything, therefore he is innocent (proven innocent). The University rightly chose t reinstate him; this is a country of innocent until proven guilty, and Sales was not proven guilty. Doug Marrone would be dumb*** not to let him back on the team.

RIght. This kid broke countless laws and the only reason he's not in jail is because his thug brother took one for the team.

Even if this alone is the case I'm sure he's not the only college student that is still in school under similar circumstances.

If anything, student athletes are held to higher standards based on public scrutiny they are open to. If Jim Q Nonathlete had gotten pulled over in the same circumstances, and was reinstated to school afterwards, we would know nothing about it.

Right. He didn't break any laws and if he was a non-athlete, it would have been a non-issue.

Not that it matters, but I thought the open container charge (misdemeanor) was still out there.

So Im guessing dwi is not a big deal or selling drugs to kids or driving around with weapons or even being associated with his brother who is a known gang member. Yeah this guy is a model citizen!

Now I'm not saying I don't want him on the team cause I believe to have any chance of winning we need him. But don't tell me this kid is innocent and if it was some kid just going to school he would have been marched off campus never to be seen of again.

Just remember he has kicked players off for less. Smoking pot, steeling a tv, missing curfew, gambling.

Whats the latest on Marcus Sales?
I believe he is still alive but Doug hasn't declared him to be back with the team as yet. Probably will not until close to March 8th and spring practice.

So, this is your ultimatum - kick him off HCDM, or else you're not such a tough nut?
I'm guessing he'll make a better decision with the facts than you will from afar.

Sales was charged with fifth- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana, passing a red light, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle and violating the city’s open container law. The drug charges were later dropped.

There is a world of difference between being innocent and being not guilty.

Innocent means that you didn't do it. Not guilty means there wasn't enough evidence to convict you.

The fact that the DA chose not to prosecute Sales on the drug charges doesn't make him "proven innocent". It just makes him lucky.

Wow thank you.

Look I honestly want su football to get back on top and yes sales would help. But don't go around tossing a kid off the team for smoking pot and then let this kid back on a team. Yeah kids make mistakes but come on don't insult any of our intelligence and tell me this kid is innocent

I'm sure there are A LOT of college kids arrested for DWI or selling drugs that don't get kicked out of school. Nothing that he did was even on campus or during session.

I'd say missing a season is punishment enough for Sales since all charges were dropped. I'm sure he'll be on a very very short leash when he's reinstated.

BFD

Actually a grand jury, presumably of mostly non-SU fans decided there wasn't enough evidence. The DA didn't drop the case, a grand jury decided not to pursue an indictment. You might want to learn a little about how the justice system works before spouting off non-informed and biased opinions.

Ok buddy I have two frIends that were on duty when It happened. Are you trying to tell me he was just driving in a car with drugs and drinking for the hell of it.

Thomas didn't get tossed off the team, he was suspended, and not for a first infraction. It was his choice not to serve the suspension. He has a redshirt year available.

Sales was suspended from school and the team. He went through the judicial process and as I understand it the university process to be readmitted to school.

Perhaps since you have so many friends in law enforcement you should ask them what it means to be cleared by a grand jury.

I don't see anything that should keep Sales from being back on the team, made a mistake, went through the process, charges well at least the vast majority were dropped... Open container? BFD. Jesus, you guys never had a traveler or a road soda? What, not that I would know anything about that type of behavior.

Ok so he was borrowing a vehicle that just happens to have scales, baggies, drugs, and while he was taking a nap someone laced him with alcohol and then planted more Booze in the drivers cup holder. Sales then not knowing he was forced to consume drinks got into a car and then the brakes stopped working at a red light and mysteriously started working again when the officer tried pulling him over to tell him he's an outstanding citizen. To toP it all off his model citizen brother who has never done anything wrong appeared in the car and stuffed money in his pocket that I assume he earned from his job at the gap.

Oh and if you think the da and courts get it right all the time you must be thinking that oj never killed his ex wife.

Hopefully, he'll have all Spring semester to show that he belongs on the team.

I'll be very surprised if he is back on the roster.

He was driving the vehicle, therefore he was charged with the possession offenses. Whether he knew the drugs and scales were there or not, who knows? He took a right on a red at an intersection where that was not allowed and was pulled over for "passing a red light". Have you ever done that and not gotten a ticket? He did have the open container in the car (a violation of the law) and therefore it's presumed by the arresting officer that he was conusming alcohol in a moving vehicle. He was not charged with dwi or dui and he did pass a breathalizer test. He was also charged with driving without a license - he has one but it was not on his possession at the time he was pulled over. There is a fair amount of gray in that black and white.

I think you may have run with this story just a tad. I don't believe Marcus blew a BAC that could get a DWI or DUI, hence the reason he was never even charged for that. As for the red light, it wouldn't be the first time a city cop pulled over two black men in a car and fabricated a reason. Weren't all of the drugs and paraphernalia hidden from plain view? Yes, his brother is known for drugs. Should Marcus pat him down before he gets in the car? So, all Marcus did was have an open container. As a former college student myself, this is small-time. And no, kids don't get kicked out of college for off-campus DWIs. They happen ALL the time. Colleges can't afford to run background checks on their matriculated students and police forces do not forward arrests to colleges.

Btw, the DA in the OJ case at least had enough to make it through a GJ with an indictment.

Maybe his cop buddies were trying to embellish the story to come out looking like roses...the way most cops do
