He was hesitant to take the lead in soliciting funds for the IPF. How would it work if he was supposed to be out there drumming up contributions for the whole athletic department?

i have no idea if this if is true or not, but it would likely be in his best interests. hes done as a NFLHC, he got lucky they hired him the 1st time, no way the quiter gets a 2nd chance, expecially when he cant even call plays. but as a CEO, task manager & successfull football guy...he would fit the profile of candidates i hope they are looking at for AD.
