"We are going to continue to work hard to correct the mistakes that we're making. When we do that, we'll be a football team and we'll win football games; and I do believe we will do that."

Still a believer and hoping he is the guy that completely turns this around. Haters can rightfully so hate, but this team (especially the players) need support from our fans more than ever. Regardless of your taste for DM, the players don't have a say in choosing the staff, so we need to support them on the field. Many of you clearly will continue to do so. We are nearing a breaking point, but it will be turned around damnit.

Agree I really think he is the guy. At least I'm hoping so. He fueled an 8-5 team in 2010 let's hope he turns this around. The team has shown a lit of good it's not like GROBs teams

I am going to travel 700 miles to do that.

I always have the teams back when it comes to showing up, yelling and staying until the game is over...GO CUSE!

We can all agree that we need talent (recruits) to win. Showing up to games and staying and cheering certainly helps that. Look at the bball program. That's all we can do as fans. I know it doesn't help much but I try to talk SU football to everyone I can and try to convince a couple guys here and there to take in a game. I did get 4 guys to buy season tickets and a few others interested in going to a game or two. If we all do that, it can help.

At the end of the day, I don't care who the coach is, they need help from us to build a winning program.

Exactly, it is the one thing we can control so if we take the poor attendance out of the equation it's completely up to the coaches and players to turn this around...we would be doing our part.

I agree that I still have some hope (perhaps misguided) that he is the guy.

I will continue to support the team of course, but fan support, while a plus, isn't mission-critical now.

It's coaching... fixing coaching errors, player discipline and focus and improving the standard and consistency of play.

It's frustrating because I believe (as do many) that we have the requisite talent and depth to be a decent 1A team... You definitely couldn't say that 4 years ago... So with the building blocks in place, consistently beating ourselves with poor coaching decisions, bad execution and packages and lack of focus/discipline, it's that much harder to swallow.

I do think it's mission critical right now that this gets figured out and fast.

When you lose as many games as we have lost consistently, the "culture of losing" blight creeps into a program that can be a cancer to eradicate w/o a reboot of the program under a new regime...

I fear we are quietly approaching that point of no return under Marrone...

I say the fans because is the only thing we can impact at this point. We can't impact how the coaches coach or how the players react, we just need to continue to show support for this team as fans.

Given... just think fan support has little to do with the building on fire at this point...

I really like this point, and Bees' post about going to games. We can comment and complain profusely about what we see that needs improvement, but the only way we can really help this team is to support them. Each fan may have a tiny individual impact, but the team needs every advantage possible right now. To paraphrase an overused if still valid quote: "if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem". They need us to do our part.

From purely a communications perspective, Marrone is nailng it. He's being transparent, honest and human. It's what someone with accountability and leadership should say.

On paper, he is a guy we should all want to succeed. A passionate alum with experience at some great programs. Hope this team and program can start getting wins becausE if he doesn't, he needs to go at some point.

Let's get some wins. Go Doug, go.

Agree 100%.

It's stupid when people here talk about "haters". There are very few people who hate Marrone, and I suspect they have some kind of bizarre agenda (or are just generally miserable people). The vast majority want the guy to succeed. Desperately.

I can just picture the piece College GameDay would do on him if SU got real good again and were in a marquee game someday. It writes itself.

But yeah, he has to win. Like, real soon.

you won't believe what greg robinson just posted on friendster

I take that as targeted directly at my comment. Many people do not like Marrone. Hate may be a strong word, but just read the boards or what people have the balls to write on his FB status updates.

Very. Few. People. Hate. Marrone.

Our fanbase is small and doesn't care.

I really like Marrone and I like the way he represents and cares for Syracuse University. I'm just not sure he's the right guy to win football games for SU.

This has nothing to do with the size of our fanbase. Many people WITHIN our fanbase are fed up with him.
