Yep. You really have to look at it like a total one off. Team had not yet played a home game, Tommy and the OL still figuring things out and a defense overconfident and unprepared.

Maryland has more talent but isn't as good a team as Western Michigan. If anything they are equal overall, Lester a better coach. Western Michigan has more experienced talent and likely beats UM by a TD or two. Again blip on the radar for a team still yet finding themselves.

No not the only game they had to prepare for all year. But the only game they had to prepare for preseason being sandwiched between Howard and Temple (they thought). Locksley blows.

I guess our bizarro world version of the Maryland game was the 2011 game where we boat raced West Virginia at the Dome - then lost our next 5 games.

We sucked before that game too. Barely beat Rhode Island, Toledo, and Tulane.

Maryland against Penn St. looks like Syracuse did against Maryland. Bad tackling, confused on defense, Penn St. players running wild in open space. You are seeing the real Josh Jackson tonight because Penn St. is putting pressure on him and the Penn St. secondary is playing tight coverage. Two bad INT's already. Locksley looks lost too. I hate to say it but that loss to Maryland now looks like a really embarassing loss, a loss that can not be explained.

At the end of the day though it’s a loss like any other. These are 18-23 year old kids. The transitive property doesn’t apply. Teams progress and regress during the year all the time based on what they have between the ears. Don’t get me wrong that loss sucked but it does not define the season. It does mean though this team has a ton of work to do.

I don't know how many here are honestly saying at this stage that the 'season is toast' when there's still so much of it left. It's just frigging hilarious, in my opinion, that that Maryland debacle is getting played as a "it was their Super Bowl" type thing, especially with them being in the B1G, with the likes of OSU, UM & PSU.
