Maryland sucks...

I don't know how many are honestly saying at this stage that the season 'season is toast' when there's still so much of it left. It's just frigging hilarious, in my opinion, that that Maryland debacle is getting played as a "it was their Super Bowl" type thing, especially with them being in the B1G, with the likes of OSU, UM & PSU.
Its not their super bowl for fudge sake.

They didn't give a flying fudge about Howard. They prepped and game plan for Syracuse from camp open ... Period.

Where are you getting it was their super bowl? They prepared for us that was clear. Much more than they prepared for any other game through Temple. The fact the loss was a huge downer is not lost on anyone. It's not rationalizing a bad loss. It's putting it into perspective. Maryland is not nearly as good as we made them look, nor are we close to as bad. A lot of that had to do with preparation by MD as much as growing pains by our guys. Again objective analysis vs knee jerk reaction.

The fact of the matter is, this is 100% your opinion. I guess we did the same for Liberty and Maryland looking at the Clemson game all along, except we got demolished on national tv in that game, whereas at least MD won their Super Bowl against us.

Again with the super bowl stuff. It was the first major opponent for a new staff and at home. An opportunity to build momentum. Just as Clemson, as mentioned by our players in pre season was a focal point. Clemson whipped us the last quarter and a half. Our defense did a great job through that point. As a team with high expectations we absolutely were eyeing Clemson. Not a good move. It's about moving forward now with lessons learned.

Who said it was their super bowl that you put in quotations? Or did you make that up?

I guess if we only had some tape on MD we would've been more prepared? Look, we had just as much time to prepare for them as they did us, we opened up against Liberty, not a powerhouse by any means. Us being so ill-prepared is on the coaches, it's their job, no different then MD's coaches having them well prepared. I agree 100% with you that Maryland isn't as good as we made them look, nor we as bad as we played that afternoon. What about their growing pains with a 1st year coach? That's a one-sided argument from one perspective is it not? In my opinion, it was a horrendous loss, just wish some would be more transparent and honest about that particular performance rather than making questionable excuses.

The Super bowl take is in jest, and from the hoops side, i.e., losing to UConn, when they suck so bad, etc.

Yes, I made it up as it was simply a play/take from the hoops side, which apparently failed miserably.

Ehhh...we as a fanbase should just man up a bit here. Pretty much the majority said we would crush Maryland and that no one there could coach and they took our team and coaches behind the wood shed. Now they look like crap and candidly makes our loss a bit more ugly. All this rationalizing why they luckily gave us a beat down seems like sour grapes. We should take the punch from Maryland, spit out the tooth and handle the rest of the season and hopefully not have another game like that again for a while. I still think we can see 7 or 8 wins if our lines start to find their mojo, a receiver steps up and we find another lb. who wants to tackle.

It's a good thing there's no transitive property in college football.

Is this where I express shock that a What loss happened to us, like it only happens to us? And it used to happen to us more. (Little less with Dino.)

Reminds me of “we have a problem with running QB’s” like it’s a unique to us problem.

I go into every week believing my team will win so I'll never throw in the towel on my team, but there is literally zero genuine excuse for that Maryland game. They lost to Temple. They had 128 total yards tonight. We gave up 650. That's unjustifiable. The comparison to that GT game is spot on. We got dismantled by a below average team.

Everyone on this thread needs to take a tranquilizer or something. Maryland stinks and we made them look great. We just need to play well the rest of the way. End of story. Remember that Northwestern team who went to the Big 10 title game last year? They lost to Akron. College football is a strange game.

Maryland against Penn St. looks like Syracuse did against Maryland. Bad tackling, confused on defense, Penn St. players running wild in open space. You are seeing the real Josh Jackson tonight because Penn St. is putting pressure on him and the Penn St. secondary is playing tight coverage. Two bad INT's already. Locksley looks lost too. I hate to say it but that loss to Maryland now looks like a really embarassing loss, a loss that can not be explained.
Ward was completely unprepared against Maryland. After the first series he needed to take away the short game and spy Jackson. Playing soft was death. Maryland out coached us.

The having no clue how to defend them was similar to GA Tech. But they had a good HC in Paul Johnson. Locksley is Shaferesque.
