I guess.
Seems like sports were more fun to watch when the TV thing didn't drag everything else down...and I don't remember the fanbase wishing and hoping that the league and the school had millions more in revenue to play with.
It was.
But this is the US of A, where the almighty buck is first and foremost and trumps everything. IMO, free agency was the start of what sports has evolved to today. These players are so full of chit when they say they play for the love of the game, it's complete BS. They play for the doe, ray, me...period! It mocks the legacy of the great players of yesteryear who truly did play for the 'love of the game.' I'm reminded of that scene in 'Field of Dreams' where Ray Liotta's character states "I would've played for food money...I would've played for nothing."
